Story
Originally made in 72 hours for Ludum Dare 22, The Vestibule is a visual novel adventure/mystery game about the chance encounters made by the main character, Gale, on a voyage by train for the holidays. By interacting with the other passengers on the train, you can help them or hinder them from making realizations about themselves. And maybe, in the process, you can learn something about yourself, too.

The Vestibule is a microgame which can be completed in about 20 minutes. Why not give it a shot?

It was a good read... definitely worth the 15 minutes...

There was only one thing I odd...
You never did explain the stuff about the train... how it kept on going but never reached the destination...
This was the only thing i found confusing...

Congratulations on the VERY respectable LD placing. You did indeed create a great atmosphere, although I'm a bit confused that
I seemed to have eloped with a man. Is the game about exploring your sexuality?

All joking aside, I really enjoyed it and it had a lot of polish for a game made in such a short space of time.

I'm quite new to all this - can you tell me (or point me towards) how you converted the game into an Android app? I'd love to do the same with mine.

I... think I'm in an endless loop... no matter what I do, I can't seem to do anything; Edgar looks busy and I should leave him be, and Irene is sat in my compartment doing nothing. An unfortunate flaw to an otherwise great game, I think! I'll have to restart it and try again, I guess...

The artwork may not be good, but the story is.
I got only two endings.
In one of them, Irene tries to seduce the protagonist.
In one of them, the protagonist gets off the train.
Is that all?
Or are there any more endings?

There's another ending, which is a bad end. There are different variations on the escape ending depending on the choices you took, but it's mostly the same.

Gack! >_< There's one specific case that results in you getting the bad end without it triggering the ending sequence and it sounds like you found it. Unfortunately, I've been unable to track down what causes it yet.

That's not what it's intended to be about, but I could certainly see a good argument there. :P I'm glad you enjoyed the game!

As for how I converted it...erm, I advise waiting until the converter is more mature. It's a very complicated and involved process and requires a fair bit of knowhow in building Android apps.

I got stuck in the endless loop too! Twice!
I figured the game was trying to make a statement or something...

Gah! >_< Do you know what decisions caused you to get stuck in that situation?

Hmm...I think it was talking to Irene and refusing to let her seduce me. I'm pretty sure the first time I talked to Edgar first and the second time I ignored Edgar entirely.

What you say is more important than what you do. Were you hitting on her before you rejected her? What advice did you give Edgar?

Why don't you just make a guidebook or something?

Played this today and managed to get the 2 endings Wright1000 posted about already :C (Having trouble getting the 'bad' ending.)
I caught one typo in the beginning when you first board the train:
"... But no one laughs, because here's no one else on the car."

Otherwise, super cool game! I love the different poses for the characters and the stories behind everyone. I think it would have been more interesting if the conductor gave off a strange vibe as to the
ultimate nature of the train ride,
but it was done for Ludum Dare and with time restraints, so I'm not too worried about his lack of involvement. Good work!

Really interesting game. At first I got into that loop too, but then I restarted the game. From what I remember I chose to try to move without waking her and going to the toilet, and for Edgar I chose that must be hard.
That's what I get for not helping, stuck on that train. :P After that I managed to help everyone with their problems.
Though the train is never really explained, I like to think it was some sort of metaphor.

Even if I'm wrong, it was still a good, thought-provoking game.
