I would like to know where you got your sound effects in your visual novels, and if you had to pay for the sounds, how much?

In case you're still looking, here's a good place http://www.freesound.org/

Free to use, free to download. Some of the files are non-commercial only, check the individual file pages to see what exact type of licence they use.

Those links are very useful. :D

If I use their sounds for my game ( Non-comercial) do need to give them credit? ( Is posting the link enough?)

That, dear, depends on the license.
Let's take >this< as example.
On the right you see the license - in this case it's the Attribution License.
Once you click the link you will be redirected to the >license page< of the sound, which tells you your possibilities and the conditions.
On freesound you can even >search< sounds by their license (right side), which is really useful if you're working on an commercial project.
If the license is Creative Commons 0 you don't even have to credit the autor.
(But you can look all the commons up so that you know which one is which.)

Have fun making your game~ =)
