Hey Everyone!

Soooo I thought if I'm going to begin making a VN, I should have a cute little logo to go with it, right? It's nothing fancy and graceful like Auro-Cyanide+Camille's Cyanide Tea logo [which I love btw, can't wait til there RisAmo comes out!], but I think it's cute and it's me. Comments please? Thanks

I'm not an artist, so my comments won't be very precise, sorry. The "f" in "Of" is cut off, making it look like "Ot." It's definitely cute, but it's missing some "crisp" factor. Maybe, it's because of the brightness of the white "Of" or...maybe, you could try adding a text stroke of some kind, like a soft glow around all of the letters?

Have you tried making the "Kiss" word the same color as the skull? Or better yet, you could change the skull to be the same color as the skeleton. These are all just suggestions...try out different combinations until you find one that you feel really happy with.

The font for the word Kiss is difficult to read

Haha, thanks ^_^ It probably helps that I'm a professional graphic designer.

In generally logos works best with a 'less is more' approuch. That means using a max of two typefaces (for instance with the Cyanide Tea logo I used a normal typeface and my own hand writing to indicate the contrast between the two words which basically represent Camille and Me) and a max of 2-3 colours. You also have quite a few elements that aren't quite intergrated into the text. Given all rules of graphic designer can be broken they are good guidelines to follow. I'm attaching a quick eample of what I'm talking about. If you actually want to use this one then I can pass it over to you in a form you can use. I like when people show an interest in graphic design and visual communication

It took me 3 years of study to be even remotely okay at it haha XD Frankly there are a lot of different things to think about and there is a lot of theory surrounding it. There is a focus on visual communications, semiotics, typography and just how to make things pretty~

My advice for people trying to design a logo is:

-Try and think about what you want the logo to represent. Don't just jump on the first visual cue you think of. Think of simple ways you can represent it. There are a multitude of options for you to choose from, type, colour, line, texture, shape, size. You don't have to always literally draw what you mean. This gets easier the more you understand about how people read things visually.

-Study. Look at lots of different logos (especially good ones and ones that are trying to say thesame thing you are) and try and figure out why they work. You want to make a happy, cute logo? Look at other happy, cute logos and figure why you think they look happy and cute.

-Play with your design. When you are making something fairly simple and quick, it's good to find a nice way to say it. I only choose a typeface and redid the skull. However I could have placed the skull in a lot of places. I choose to put it there because it balanced nicely. I could have had the text in a straight line but I staggard it to make it more interesting. I made the 'OF' smaller. I only used pink very subtley so if didn't over-rode everything. Consider what you are doing and why and try out lots of different things to see what works best.
