I've finally set up http://download.vnovel.com
The site is a phpBB forum that allows attachments of unlimited size. (Tiles near and above 200mb are going to have to be done manually though, but tracking can still be offered. You'll want to PM me about that.)
What this means is that you can now host your games or other VN related files, however big, on this site. That being said, if you expect an insane number of downloads, you'll want to look into other mirrors as well, since it's possible that you might crash the server. (Basically, don't make Katawa Shoujo and host it there )
The forum allows you to track the number of downloads, which is pretty spiffy. Anyone can download files from the site, but only members of the "Uploader" group can upload files and post. For more details, check out the site itself.

Alright, here's basically what's happening (Leon wrote it well, so I copy pasted )




Quick summary for those who hate reading: Free hosting and if you don't have a domain name, a free subdomain, as long as it conforms to certain requirements. Also looking for people that want to help. It'd be best if you read on for more details.

So, at this point, I'm offering to share and give free hosting to anyone who wants to create a website relating to VNs (like an art portfolio, game reviews, a dev page, those sorts of things). At this point, I've got the most unlimited plan with Godaddy and can host as many URLs as I want.

I'm also looking for people interested in helping, whether it's offering your own hosting, cool domain name (for creating subdomains), or your programming skills (mine are nonexistent). I've got some help, but more is better.

The following are just guidelines. Your sites will be screened, and sites will be hosted according to my discretion (and the other participating members').

There are acceptable things:
18+ content (it still has to relate to VNs, and you have to be sure to warn users, because we don't want kiddies stumbling on your site and popping their eyes right out of their head)
Activism (it has to relate to VNs, and just because I'm hosting you doesn't mean that I agree with your views)
Fan Games (nothing that steals assets directly from something such as music or art, and I will remove anything that gets complaints from the companies that own the original content)

These are not acceptable things:
Illegal stuff (Pirated stuff, underage people doing things they shouldn't be doing, etc.)
Incredibly hateful things (To my discretion, and including racism and all that bad stuff)

At the moment, subdomains are available for the following sites:
subdomain.vnovel.com
subdomain.hellpanda.com
(If you have your own that I'd be able to add to this list, that'd be awesome! )

UPDATES:
6/9/2012 - All sites are subject to being disabled temporarily if I receive a takedown notice. If you run a forum, you have the option of adding me as an admin, so I can handle any issues that may come up with forum content, otherwise, I may have to take your forum down temporarily, until problems can be addressed. If you were to choose to create an account for me, it would be solely for that purpose, and I wouldn't make any posts or anything like that. Odds are, I wouldn't even check unless something came my way You can send the information to me via email. My email is the same as my username, and it's at gmail.

8/15/2012 - download.vnovel.com is set up. Create an account and request to join the "Uploader" group to have permissions.

10/2/2012 - turns out you're going to have to contact me for files around and above 200mb, as they won't necessarily upload directly through the forum.

Do you have a CPanel system on GoDaddy?
Well, after reviewing GoDaddy's hosting terms, you can indeed host unlimited domains.
If it's CPanel, you have to add the domains using the "Addon Domains button"
Make sure you are uploading the site documents to the right place. You can accidentally delete your own website if you upload to the wrong place.

You might also consider making SQL databases and host Wordpress blogs with (It's really easy to install).

Make sure that they allow 18+ content to be hosted (Some do, some do not. You have to look at their policies).

I read through their policy, and I think it's alright (but I'm not a lawyer)

Was the only thing I found, and I don't think I'm using ad-supported hosting. I'll do more research on how to do this stuff.

I think that I do have CPanel. I guess I'll try to figure it out. To the googles!

Yep, I would even e-mail them to make sure it's okay.

Well, if you log onto your control panel and see a red band near the top that says "CPanel", you probably have it.
After looking Godaddy a bit more, if you're on a hosting plan, then they do give you CPanel.

Make sure you have a FTP program as well.

Alright, I've updated the top post, so some of the comments above might not make sense. Don't worry, they all made sense at the time, and were very helpful.

Anyway, I'm offering help, and I'm definitely interested in having others join me and offer their expertise or resources, so that we can have a wonderful group service for the VN community. (That's the dream, anyway.)

I'm still not sure that I understand how this works.
I kinda like the vnovel domain, but how exactly do you... get hosted?
I remember making a HP, like, 4 years ago with a weird program (or rather, this program was for hosting and I made the website with HTML) - is it the same here or do you also accept things like blogs?

Alright, if you PM Leon with the details, he might be able to help you. I have nothing against hosting a blog. I know that I'm already hosting my own wordpress blog at http://hellpanda.com/blog/ so it should be possible to install wordpress and use it on your subdomain. If you want direct access (although this won't really be necessary if it's just wordpress or something), I can create and FTP account for you too. I'm... starting to get a hang of doing that, I think.

Why not setting up WordPress for multi-site hosting and using it as the default for new projects? Organizations that wanted a different template or plugin could ask the admins to install it. It isn't hard to use WP as a bona-fide generic content management system, and it is a lot easier to set up than creating your own pages in HTML and Javascript.

Keep your script in your Dropbox folder.
It allows you to share files with your team, keeps backups of previous versions, and is ridiculously easy to use.

I think Leon is looking into something like that. Anything I say that sounds stupid is probably a slip up resulting from my ignorance.

Yes, this is certainly worth considering. Is this the same thing as multi-user wordpress or something different?
For now I placed the default wp installation on redeyesblackpanda's host, so installing a new blog should be easier next time (just need to copy it).
I agree, Wordpress is no longer "just" a blogging platform.
