Is there such a thing as an online visual novel? Something that allows you to meet real people? Would you play it if there was?

Some things like "Visual Novel you can play online" exist (http://visunove.com and others), but never heard about real time multiplayers visual novel (like MMOVN ?). Is it even possible ? I mean, I hardly see a interesting way to hang that.

I think there is one online Visual Novel if I am not mistaken....

I think it's this one Considering the "MMOVN" tag at the title then I'm definitely sure of it now.

I haven't tried it yet, though I am willing to do so if I have... more free time.

What if I tell you it's possible and it's in the works? Will you play it? Sentou Gakuen doesn't really count because it's practically a Mafia Wars-type game with a visual novel feel. I'm talking about something like Clannad... but instead of meeting NPCs, you meet a character whose actions is controlled by a person on the other side. Will you buy it even if it cost $5 on iOS/Android?

5$ isn't very expensive. If it has good quality, I'm sure many would buy it. I'm curious as to how you plan to implement it though. Since VNs are story driven, so is it like an MMORPG with no fighting, and more stat raising instead? Kinda like Mabinogi with more... novel?

It's going to be a VN where you meet someone whose choices is controlled by another, so it opens up a lot of storyline options (based on you AND the other person's decisions). It can be a dating thing where the objective is to find a person that suits you based on the choices you've previously made.

As to why you would want this instead of just going to a dating site, dating sites don't have immersive storylines that can be much more fun than real life.

Oh I see now, being a guy, it'd be incredible to play as a girl dating a boy played by a girl ! ... well

Honnestly, I'm not sure the idea can materialize into something interesting.
VN and Multiplayer game on line are two things really opposed, like you'd have to wait the reply from the other so ? or it'd need to be live and need enough people the same time online ? And if someone quit - since most of the time you don't play a VN in one time -, what happens ? How can it have a real story behind it (it's not a visual novel without storyline) since you will need to create plenty of them each time someone finish one other ? etc etc etc.
I'm curious but septic.

Yes, you will have to wait for the other person's reply, but that's just a click's worth of waiting. Also, the game doesn't have to be completely online. It could be a game with dating benefits, like in traditional VNs where the endings are usually you getting a new lover. Basically, more of a two-player VN experience than a multiplayer one.

If someone quits, we can make a scenario that fits with going back to the point where you are to meet a person, although it's best to keep your session together. The point is to find friends and potential partners, so it's counter-productive to log out in the middle of a session with no intention of going back.

The scenarios can still be limited to an extent because it's not like every decision changes the course of any visual novel.
