The exposed are people exposed to Element Omega, a fictitious resource that powers spacecraft shields and engines. This is set in the future circa 2150 when humanity has several colonies and has established contact with different alien races. Being exposed to dust-particle Element Omega has 3 options: death, superpowers or superpowers with crippling side effects such as blindness. 99.9% of people exposed die, which makes it ideal for terrorist groups.
The Champions of the Exposed are one such terrorist group that consists of people solely exposed or being children of the exposed. It's an extremist organization that endeavours to either turn everybody into them, or kill them since they believe the exposed are the future in evolution.
Cassandra is one of the unlucky individuals that gets caught in a terrorist attack on a city center. As a result she becomes an exposed that survives the attack. The main character plays as Cassandra and goes to a school that consists of people who are also exposed, since the goal of civilized world is to have them ally with the government / people in authority. Therefore the school is partially a development place for superpowers as well as a way to nudge them to join the military / government / firefighters etc.

The school is divided into male and female, there's a female only campus. As she transfers to the school she meets 6 other girls with superpower. One of which will turn out to be her friend, which is a romance path that results in failure, since she's straight. The other girls she meets are either bi or lesbian.
