hanami x 2

Wow, this thread is old! We're still going though. Details remain the same, although I have a new artist on board. Again. Not much to say, although we're much closer to completion than we were before. That's good, at least.

hanami x 2 is historical fiction (emphasis on "fiction") about a young girl in the Edo period and the two boys who may (or may not) change her life. Vague, huh?

Image
Teisen
Age: 15
The protagonist. She makes a living selling dango, but hopes to open her own restaurant someday (because it's not a sake-bento production without food in it). Teisen is motivated, determined, and very friendly. Her favorite time of year is spring because she sells more food then.

Image
Yama
Age: 15
A traveler who happens to be wandering through town. Exceedingly flirty, playful, and carefree. He doesn't like to stay in the same place for very long, though. His occupation might be a questionable one.

Image
Umi
Age: 17
A traveling monk who makes a living playing his biwa. He's polite, but very distant. He seems to have a personal vendetta against Yama, but he won't say why.

Looks great! I can't wait to see more.

I did notice you only have 7 BGs, will this be a pretty short story?

Fairly short. Maybe half an hour or so. It all takes place in the same town, though, so the scenery doesn't change too often.

The art is an improvement over what I've seen from you in the past. But shouldn't the two lines showing Teisen's jaw line be connected? Also, I think her cheeks on the nearside of her face angle up too sharply.

Definitely will be keeping this in mind. It looks awesome so far! For some reason I'm reminded of Samurai Champloo (which was awesome.)

Sounds very fun! x3 There's not a lot of Ren'py vns I've seen that are based off of traditional Japan, it's nice to see something else besides a college/highschool student in Japan. xD

One thing bothers me though- The girl's neck is EXTREMELY thick. I could see the mens' necks being thick because men do have thicker necks- but a girl has a skinnier, smaller neck. (unless she's on steriods)

We still need a background artist, coders, writers and demo testers.

I can be flat out stupid sometimes. Specially in forums. Please bare with me.

Teisen's probably gotten the least amount of love in terms of art so far. >.> Her design isn't finalized yet, since she doesn't show up as a sprite or in the CGs as often as the guys do. D: She'll improve over time (hopefully).

Progress is happening. Seriously. Here's a cap of the custom layout. Nothing fancy or special, but it does have a nice cherry blossom theme.

Hm... While I like the general layout, I'm not sure I like the way the font works. My first impression is that it would be hard to read for a long time.

I mean, I'm glad it's not DejaVu again, but white-on-pink isn't an easy to read color scheme.

Pardon the directness, but I vote for some other font, for legibility reasons.

The game looks awesome! And pytom is right, maybe you should change the font color...

I've been looking for a font that's thicker, because I'm not too fond of how the outlines work on this one, actually.

If anyone has any favorites, I would love the input. It has to be one of a free nature, hopefully cute looking, and I prefer sans-serif, but that's just me.

I'll change the font color to something dark. Thanks for the input. ^-^

It doesn't have to be a free font. You can turn any font you can get your hands on into a bmfont that's perfectly legal to use (as much any other picture with text on it).
