Looks like this title is now available in the all-ages section of Mangagamer. Congrats!

Would be interesting to see how Mangagamer does with selling something so unlike their usual offerings.

Thanks for commenting.

Yeah, they are trying it out, and really got a backlash for supporting an OELVN. Ultimately, people will vote with their dollars, so I guess we'll see what happens!

That's certainly an interesting way to interpret the reactions they got.

I've been around multiple fandoms for years. So I know that fans develop ridiculous, out-of-proportion views of their pop culture entertainment. Fans often consider one very specific thing (media category, aesthetic, company, dev team, etc) and decide that it's the Only Worthwhile One. And as you probably know, the more anonymous you can be on the web, the more it leads to the online disinhibition effect.

That said, I'll purchase Host Holic through Mangagamer in the next day or so. It has been a few months since I last purchased a WVN, and this is a good time for me to step forward.

Thanks for your support. I didn't even know that we had a word for "online disinhibition", though I know we've been talking about it for a long time.

From what I understood, the consensus was that they were fine with OELVNS.

I'm on my second playthrough, and it's been fun, but I see on the task list an item about Kung Fu. I haven't had the opportunity so far to discover the class. Am I just missing something obvious?

Thanks for asking.

Kung fu is only available on the weekend. If you click on "Go to class" on the Saturday or Sunday, she will say, "I don't have to go to class," and all weekend options are available.

If you go straight to the bento, you will miss these options.

Ah! I guess I have been overly zealous with the bento making!

I'm trying out the demo right now, but I can't seem to find how to save??
Is there no save button on the demo or it doesn't have one anyway??
(or maybe I couldn't find it :/)

The game will ask you to save every night automatically. If you want to save earlier, you can save anytime that the menu is presented (after class, etc.).

Go to "Menu"
Then "Main Menu"
Then Save.

Click "Resume game" to resume.

Thanks for asking!

I just finished my first play-through, and I think I did something wrong.
I chose the dark mystery. I went for Ryouta first, I got all the hearts, bought him clothes, and gave him the CD about motorcycles. At the end he gave a note saying that he liked me, but my character couldn't decide whether to return home or stay there. Did I miss something? Should I have improved my Japanese more? Bought him more clothes? Help! On a side note...my jaw landed somewhere in the floor when I found out Maiko's secret. I did not see that coming. Great job.
I would have liked a shota option, but the guys at the host club were all handsome. I'm gonna go for Aki now.:D
Thanks for making such a great game! :)

Thanks for your support!

You actually did everything right. If you found the DVD, that is excellent and not easy to do (also optional)!

We tried to keep some of the endings open, so people could imagine what they wanted for themselves, but it ended up being confusing and people were like, "What did she do? I have to know!" The whole idea is that you are the teacher, so what happened and what you decided to do is up to you based on your own interests/ideals and personality, but a lot of people said that they just wanted to be told what happened. For the upgrade, we'll put in some choices and tell you what would likely have happened from our standpoint. The last thing that we wanted to do was write, "And you got married and lived happily ever after!" THE END

And yes, a lot of people asked for a shota option. I was really surprised because I saw on Zeiva's blog (I think) that people didn't want Shota interests in their games. We'll probably get this in for the BL version, but I'm really on the fence about it, because I'm worried people will be offended and send me lots of complaints. Maybe I can make it optional or something.

Thanks again!

Hey, don't blame that on me, I was basing my opinion on LSF survey of which majority said they hated shouta.
But the most popular character in X-note is Oure, which is shouta. So obviously there is a market for it. :D

Doing that on a western VN might be quite risky IMHO and do more bad than good. I've been asked that a lot too, but I definitely don't want to add such features. I get already lots of complaints by the mainstream pubilc for Dora in Loren and she isn't even a romanceable character.
