-- May I present...? This is a fairly simple maze game. Once you see all the rooms, the last room becomes accessible and in it is a surprise.

Hint: Click on the box to get the final scene.

Statistics:
-- The game contains:
933 words, 28 menus, 50 images, and 14 screens.

Despite the short (and repetitive) word-count, the game takes a 'while' to go through.

Updated - Ver. 1.5 - Font error (finally) corrected.

Competition features:

• Fully half of the story consist of the same two words: Deep Dark.
• The room images are from all different angles so it's difficult to tell where you're going -- or where you've been.
• Very repetitive music.
• Very repetitive sound effects -- and lots of them!
• Somewhat difficult font.
• Lots, and lots, and lots of clicking.

Original images came from "The Library of Congress - Online Archive."

That's an idea for a bad VN -- constant errors as part of the design. Bonus points if it's accompanied by that obnoxious Windows warning sound; XP's OR Vista/7's.

And the errors would be inconsistent in volume to simulate the surprise you get when complete silence is utterly, utterly violated because you forgot your volume was up high.

What I like is the lack of pressure to make something "good." You can just cut loose and make whatever comes to mind without bothering with perfection (or originality,) in story, art, or coding tricks.

Whenever I enter a screen with a menu there's a message about a missing font (COCKTLI.TTF). I just click on "ignore" and the game goes on.

i get the same error. had no problems with poe.

also, enjoyed the maze. er, i mean it was horrible. absolutely horrible! the worst ever!!!

-- Okay, if you both got the same error, then it's definitely the fault of the archive.

I have uploaded a new version -- one without the fonts being archived. Hopefully, this will end the error message.

Yes they are, but for once it's okay to laugh at something terrible because they were deliberately made this way, so we are laughing with the creator.
