Help on translating a symbol

Yeah.. I got a new er.. "toy" from a relative, and the thing had a symbol on it. I dunno if it is japanese or chinese, but can someone translate it for me? I just wanna make sure im not carrying a sword that says "Sped" or "reject" or something... ^.^

I'm usually pretty dreadful at reading highly stylized kanji, but I'm 95% confident I've found this one.

In Japanese, it's a common kanji which is read as GI (that's a hard G like in "get", and the I is pronounced "ee"), and which means "justice, righteousness, morality, honor". Seems rather appropriate for a sword.
