Since I love stacking my plate so high I can't see, I figured I might as well join NaNoReNo. For years now I've wanted to try one of them, but I'm always so busy when the months come. Well this time I managed to find myself less busy, so I figured why not. And thus this VN project was born. Making this thread to motivate myself into kicking it into high gear.

Title:
Shadow on the Bridge

Genre:
Drama/Slice of Life

Story:
Life is all about meetings and events. And sometimes one little event can cause a chain that changes the very direction of your life. This is the story of one guy's encounter with a girl standing on a bridge. And how both of their lives changed due to this one event.

Characters:

Ryo:
The main character of the tale. He has a nice family and a good life. But he doesn't realize the value of what he has. He has a very high IQ which has caused others around him at school to be envious of his talent. Due to this he has developed a cold and uncaring attitude for others.

Eve:
She stands on the bridge draped in her black cloak. Her hood covering her face as she stares down at the water's surface. She is kind and caring, but also full of faults and insecurities.

Status:
The game will have 6-7 different endings.
And as for word count, well that is kind of unknown since my estimate seems to be getting thrown out the window as I write more. But my current estimate is now about 10,000.
Due to my utter lack of drawing talent only Eve gets sprites. (And a friend of mine is drawing them not me.)
BGs are all done. (They are just filtered photos, since no drawing talent.)
Music is all done.
Menu screens and interface are done.
Eve Sprites 0%? (I'm not really sure. I need to get in touch with my friend.)
Script: 10%? (Not too bad I think; seeing as I only just started writing today.)

Sorry for the horrible character summaries, and the lack of information. Also will update when I get Eve's sketches from my friend.

Will this story be about a single incident? Or will the two characters' initial meeting lead to other events?

If you need help finding appropriate backgrounds and sprites, then don't forget that there are quite a few free and inexpensive resources which people will let you use.

It is about a series of events, not just their first meeting. I'm sorry, I should have clarified that.

I'm actually okay with filtered photos, I like them quite a lot. And as far as Ryo not having a sprite, I'm actually okay with that as well.



Progress update:
Script - 90% done. (It will be done)
BGM - done
BG - done
sprites - all I have are the sketches, but my artist promises me they will be finished.

It seems like you are making good progress with the story, I'm looking forward to it. I really like those 'one moment changes everything' type stories, like Sliding Doors and Crash. It's the type of story that lends itself well to Visual Novels. I like the character art as well. I think it will look nice even if it's just blocked in lineart if you run out of time

Thanks; it was harder than I thought to actually stop being lazy and doing nothing most days. I really need to get better at working on things daily. And I hope everything will work out in the story like I want it to.

Statistics:

The game contains 1,320 screens of dialogue.
These screens contain a total of 14,930 words,
for an average of 11.3 words per screen.
The game contains 15 menus.

Though, it is missing the stuff I haven't put in the code yet.
