Ookami's (Uncanny Valley) Doll

#1 Post by OokamiKasumi »

In trying to make a pose-able, multi-expression character, I think I may have --quite by accident-- achieved Uncanny Valley.

A-ha-ha, you accidentally Uncanny Valley, huh?
That's kinda great, sometimes I really wish I could draw something with this effect, but no success by now xD

Her face... her eyes! You only have to add some kind of creepy story to the picture and voila - new creepypasta is born.

I don't know... uncanny valley is something you mentioned for something that resembles human a lot but not perfectly, making it repulsive for human. And your picture is not. Well, may be it's a bit creepy (not for me though). She does have some wrong anatomy which makes her "creepy".

She is kind of creepy, I think it's more the lack of expression then the uncanny valley. There's no smile, no frown, just a blank expression and eyes that are boring into you...

Hahaha... but I'm not talking about anime anatomy (I can't draw realistic anatomy, but I'm more or less know when I see a wrong one). Well, I'm not really talking about the wrong anatomy here, but rather the picture is creepy not because of uncanny valley.

I just know I'll regret it sometime in the middle of the night, but now I'm curious about what her expressions look like...

This looks better than a lot of hand drawn art.
Some of my visual novels are at http://www.the-new-lagoon.com. They are NSFW
Poorly done hand-drawn art is still poorly done art. Be a Poser (or better yet, use DAZ Studio 3D) - dare to be different.
