Looking at the Ludum Dare jam with envy but have a ton of work in progress projects going on already?

Fear no longer, here is...

The WIP-jam
  • you have 72 hours; from the start of Ludum Dare till the end.
Friday April 17th at 9:00 PM EDT (6:00 PM PDT, or Saturday 01:00 UTC).
Or follow their timer here: http://ludumdare.com/compo/
  • You must work on one of your WIPs!
Tell us about your project's current development-state; share a link or whatever you want!
  • You have to set a goal for 72 hours.
Examples: you'll finish the writing of 3 chapters, you'll finish x number of images, etc.
  • When you're done (when LD ends) share what you achieved here with a header like "WIP-jam completed!" ! Or whatever expresses your boss-level best.
Examples: you make small preview images of your CGs/sprites, you flaunt your word-count, you make a tiny video preview of your code, etc.
This was inspired by a Twitter conversation from today, so it's a bit last-minute, but try enter if you can! I'm sure you have a WIP or two lying around.

Allow me to start:

My WIP-Dare (all for one chapter):
  • finish touching up 3 backgrounds I delayed forever.
  • finish four CGs I haven't started yet.
  • paint the 6 items we use for animations.

Oh man, wish it was the previous 72 hours. I got a lot done this past couple of days, but still more I can do so...

WIP Dare:
- Redraw three sprites
- Reread and fix any mistakes in opening of game and what I plan to use for demo

Game:
- "Divide" - No thread yet, but sometime soon. It's a GxB game based on a fictional fantasy world of demons and angels.

Write 24 short alternate history articles
Draw 2 more sprites and animate them with puppet warping (like I did this one: http://i.imgur.com/pE0ecBP.gif)
Collect all of the music for my game (almost done with this one, yay!)
Draw 5-10 backgrounds
Work on dialogue, if there's time.

Here's to hoping I can do it!

Pff, this weekend was far busier than I anticipated, so I had about 14 hours in total in the end (I have appointments the last 6,5 hours).

My WIP-End-Progress:
-I...re-hauled every background?

I posted this on Twitter last night in my despair. Pro-tip: old backgrounds will need a lot of fixing. So yeah, in the end I did these:

Well, I tried and died, after fixing background #1. Next time, I'll hopefully have an actual weekend D:! And you know, not decide on this hours before the actual thing lol.

By the way all of these are larger than the screen resolution for panning and such, so the composition might look really weird! Oh and no, I'm not done nitpicking them lol.

Ok, still a tad more writing to do, but here's all the art I did. I've been redoing old sprites cause I didn't like the old look of them. I included the former sprites too. I did work on some more than others :/

And Anna, I thought your background work looked really nice on twitter. Thanks for starting this :)

Aw thank you! And woah you did a lot, the third one changed completely!

I really like their new faces, especially the 2nd guy's, and congratulations on making it \o/~

Next time I'll be sure to announce the jam much sooner, but I'm amazed people managed to enter and get things done - how cool is that :3?
