#1 Post by Cybeat »

Anybody here uses FL Studio , aka Fruity Loop, to make their music?

I've used the demo, but didn't find it too hot. Are you looking for a program to make music with? If you are, I can name a good few.

Right then. I've heard that both Reason and Cakewalk are quite good; another one that I've heard of is cubase. Personally, I use Sibelius 5. It's more of a notation program, but is quite powerful and capable of playback through VSTs, etc.

Along with Sibelius 5 I do believe Finale 2008 is a fairly good program, also dwelling in the mostly notation category.

I upgraded to Sibelius 5 about half a year ago from Sibelius 2, mainly for the soundfont files that came with it. It's probably not the easiest/most efficient software to use for a lot of VN music, but I guess I'm too used to working with music notation to want to try something else.

Never used FL. I guess what you should use depends on what you want the software to do. I'm using an old Cubase version (and some old ones you can get pretty cheap), but then again I'm using outboard gear and no computer-based virtual instruments.
