How to draw items for visual novel?
Like an inventory thing? I wanna make some for visual novel commissions.
Re: How to draw items for visual novel?
Your item (or should I say food?) drawing on your dA looks good already. What seem to be the problem?
Re: How to draw items for visual novel?
I am not sure what size to draw them in, how many, and what to draw for example?
Re: How to draw items for visual novel?
Aren't those things depend on the game's needs? For picture size though, I suggest always start bigger than actual in-game size in case you need it later for promotional stuff or something else. For example, if the in-game size is 300 pixels, you might want to draw at 1000 pixels at least. Just make sure they still look good in small size, means don't put very small detail into your item drawing that won't be visible in the end anyway.
Any item you can think of can be made into 'item art', you just need to decide which one you're going to draw. Since you seem to like food drawing, why not start there? For alternative, rpg-kind of items also seem to be popular. Or if you have original character, you can try drawing their own unique items or stuff they carry in their bag.

300 pixels for an item seems so huge....
But thanks for the suggestions. It seems that I will draw anything.
Btw, I admire your art so much. You are so professional. //Your username makes me wonder if you are French.

It's not that large really.
For a screen 1920*1080, you can fit 6.4 columns across if each item is 300px.
It'd make sense to use that 0.4 left over space as padding, or make the images maybe 250px or so with more padding.

Warning: May contain trace amounts of gratuitous plot.

Really, if you are taking commissions, you should ask your client what size they want and what items. Some people might be making a 1920*1080 games , others might be making an 800*600 game. Ask your customers!
A Close Shave:
*Last Thing Done (Aug 17): Finished coding emotions and camera for 4/10 main labels.
*Currently Doing: Coding of emotions and camera for the labels--On 5/10
*First Next thing to do: Code in all CG and special animation stuff
*Next Next thing to do: Set up film animation
*Other Thing to Do: Do SFX and Score (maybe think about eye blinks?) Check out My Clock Cookbook Recipe: http://lemmasoft.renai.us/forums/viewto ... 51&t=21978

I was asking this just for reference anyway. Costumers need to see an example!
