MacOS Catalina
So it seems Apple will be dropping support for Mac OS-32 bit applications with the release of Catalina.
Will this be affecting Renpy games made with 7.0 and above?

Re: MacOS Catalina
Not directly - Ren'Py has been 64-bit forever. However, you will have to notarize your app. You can follow apples instructions as to how to sign and notarize your app. Alternatively, the patreon article I'm writing walks you through the process.

Re: MacOS Catalina
Thanks so much for the reply, Tom! Will be looking out for the article.
Do you (or anyone else) happen to know if apps compiled for Steam are automatically notarized by Apple or if they also need to go through the notarization process?
Thanks again!

You'll have to notarize them yourself.

Re: MacOS Catalina
Can apps get notarized with a Windows PC? Do you need an Apple Developer account?

Apple can only notarized apps only, i dont think Windows can too.

Re: MacOS Catalina
Apps need to be notarized under macOS. It's possible to run macOS under a virtual machine, assuming your computer is beefy enoyugh to handle that. (But note that this is against the terms of the macOS license.) You will always need a current Apple Developer account.

Re: MacOS Catalina
And I'll just point out that for those who back me on Patreon my latest article covers how to notarize Ren'Py apps so they run on macOS Catalina.

Re: MacOS Catalina
The 90% of indie developers are just going to dump mac support. I know at least 10 major indie devs who quit, and some are using macs as their development platform... lol
