Ask questions about one topic per thread, and use a descriptive subject. "NotImplemented error in script.rpy" is a good subject, "Tom's problems" is not. Remember to include all of traceback.txt or error.txt when reporting a problem, as well as the relevant lines of script. Use the [code] tag to format scripts.

While I don't like at all the mac appstore, I found out that you can still submit an already packaged app by changing some files:
http://technology.blurst.com/unity-game ... app-store/
so my question was if there was any other reason why Ren'Py app cannot appear on it? I mean GPL-related or Apple restrictions (I know a dev is submitting an app that uses pygame, so python should be fine).

I don't see any reason on my end why it wouldn't work, using a technique like this. I'm not going to support it in the launcher anytime soon, but the commands seem straightforward enough. Apple may complain that we are not using things like menus in the way they prefer - but until they publicly release some guidelines, I won't know for sure.

Hmm then I guess I can just ask a friend who has the developer license, the mac os 10.6.6 (since Apple is so generous to force yet another paid update to his users) to submit it and see if it gets rejected (for a specific reason) or not. Thanks :)

You're unlikely to get anywhere by just submitting it. IIRC, you have to at least do something involving info.plist.

Well I also read that they don't allow anything even over 14+, probably no python, etc etc CENSORSHIP POWER! I think I'll just skip it for now :)

The Mac App Store guidelines can be found at http://developer.apple.com/appstore/guidelines.html and your friend should be able to access it for you (and us)

"The Mac App Store had a pretty big first day, racking up over a million downloads, but that’s more than just a big number for Apple… even successful software companies with proven distribution strategies are being wowed by the sort of numbers they’re seeing..."

Obviously from a website called "CULT OF MAC" you cannot expect to read impartial articles ;)
For example they're not saying that most AAA commercial games aren't there.

The store seems to be attracting indie developers mostly as far as I can tell, but the offerings enticed me to finally sign up for an Apple ID, which I've strongly resisted doing for years.
