#3 looks like he's going to beat you up with karate and reminds of of Kuma from Tekken. That's a whole different scary.

All of them are pretty scary (on their own way), jk, don't get mad... ^_^

Number 1. The best among all
Number 2. Likes he comes from the sky. It's really scary if there's a bear that could do that! Unrealistic, don't use it.
Number 3. Hands to short, looks chubby (which is bad), and he seems jumping?

Anyway, though your bear is already scary, I suggest you fix some of these problems:
1. He looks leaning toward left/right. Where's the center of his gravity? Take a look at your photo bear and you could look where he's standing and where he put his weight.
2. Your bear (the pose I mean) looks really strange. Perhaps you want to make as if the bear jumps the you, but that just makes impossible and not-nice-to-be-looked-at pose. As you can see from most RPG game, all enemies sprite is drawn when they're standing still. There's a reason for it. It's easier to draw.

First one definitely looks best! Although the paw on the bottom left looks a bit off. :<

I think the last one would scare me the most since out of the three he looks the most like he's leaping. If you were trying to make him look like he was standing on the ground I would not use that one though, lol. And I would only use the middle one if, as James said, you wanted him to look like he was falling out of the sky.

I'd vote for #1...#2 looks like he's falling or coming out of the sky (which would be EXTREMELY scary, but unrealistic) and #3 doesn't look quite as scary to me...
