About Team Baka Trio Initially, when the Real Life prank was staged on the forums by “mugenjoncel”, there were no plans for turning this into a full game. Many of the ideas came from discussions on the #renpy channel over IRC, and eventually we realised that there were enough ideas to make a full-fledged game. Coincidentally, this decision came a few days before NaNoRenO 2008, giving us a fixed deadline to work towards. The most difficult challenge in the writing, was figuring out how to string a series of ‘real life’ vignettes into a coherent story. This was solved by segmenting the story into six scenes – the first being an introduction, the next four focusing on an interaction with one of the four girls, and having the sixth scene act as a ‘conclusion’ to the choices. Once this was decided, we had a fairly flexible framework that let us alter individual scenes without disrupting the overall storyline. Between the three of us (FIA, Ignosco, Lordcloudx), we were able to cover all of the important areas needed for this game. An honorary fourth team member (PyTom) served as an official techincal consultant, and advisor. Although the credits list our principal roles on the team, we were by no means working on them separately. Despite none of us having worked together on a game prior to this, the teamwork went very smoothly. The instant exchange of information via IRC, not only improved the overall quality of the game, but made the month it took to make Real Life very enjoyable.
