Re: Any good anatomy books?

Michael Hampton's book works for the way my brain works. But Parka Blogs is a great resource to see what's inside some great art books too.

It seems Patreon might be a worthwhile look. This other visual novel is being made also with RenPy and is geared toward the Furry Audience. http://lemmasoft.renai.us/forums/viewtopic.php?f=43&t=28592&p=341301&hilit=blackgate#p341301 The lady doing Oh Joy Sex Toy comic is another that all...

Re: Three writing tips you shoudn't listen to

I did read through all the Harry Potter series, and I did enjoy them. I had it in my head that I was talking about the magic system, as most of it had to be invented to fit the needs of the character. Not that she was adamant against having to do research, but ... I'll try not to hand out more fodde...

Re: Three writing tips you shoudn't listen to

I don't know if I read anything violent in that, this seems like a good conversational thread. Stephanie Meyer never read or saw media that contained Vampires or Werewolves. Be it film, literature, television... and she went on to write the Twilight Series. This is why they sparkle. Yet, widely popu...

Re: Three writing tips you shoudn't listen to

I think you're taking the idea of "Write what you know" a bit too literally. Vonnegut and Heinlein might not have known what it's like to travel to different planets, but the people they wrote who went there seem real enough. But it's also protection against things that won't ring true whe...

Re: Thoughts on Working with Inklewriter for a Visual Novel

Thank you for sharing your workflow and your experience with the program. I've had a few cursory glances at Inklewriter for drafting purposes--and Articy Draft has been sitting on my Steam Wishlist for some time now. I'll definitely try a dive at Inklewriter for an intro to a PnP Campaign that I've ...

Re: Episodes Versus Full Length VNs

I can say that I enjoy episodic content, be it television, games, comics... and I don't think it would be any different if a VN were delivered in that format. I agree with Greeny, that as long as the episode is still broken into a nice story-arc with larger story arcs being hinted at. I'm down for t...

Re: Space Opera in VNs

It's really easy to build a go overboard in the planning phase. I suppose I do it myself a lot. I'd recommend scaling it back, and give yourself to trying to write it first without the art. As without an artist, you might want to have proof of concept before rushing out to hire an artist. A chapter ...

Not sure if anyone's posted this before. It was mentioned to me by my film professor.

Re: WebStory Engine - A Visual Novel Engine for the Web

I definitely will be updating my blog soon and to start pushing forward with new skills at hand. I only ask because I've been working in flash for one of my classes and the ability to swap out instances in a movie clip would make things handy by having one .swf file that contains all the various clo...

C7N, You're an incredible human being! Thanks for your continued work on this engine. I've been looking forward to being able to developing more with your engine. Alas, I'm taking 20 credits this semester and my classes feel like I'm working two full-time jobs again. I had a question about the video...

Re: Daily Military Life

It's not incredibly different from the typical college life, except swapping out classes for 'work'. Typically you wake up, go to your company formation, you do a workout, have breakfast, hygiene up, go to where your job requires you, have lunch, go back to work, final formation, and break for the e...

Re: Should a Romantic Interest be quirky or 'normal'?

I agree with LWR. Characters shouldn't be adjectives. They should be real life people. And for a character with an unusual upbringing, I'd say that it's a practice of empathy. What would you do if you were that character? As that writing tip says 'Honesty lends Credibility to unbelievable situations...
