Re: Visual Novel Maker, from the creators of RPG Maker
No demo, a video that shows nothing, and an image of fake code. Could it be "vaporware" is back to business? Well I heard that even with Tyranobuilder you can customize your script bla bla. The same was promised by Novelty years ago. Not wanting to derail this thread one more time, but pr...

Re: Visual Novel Ideas looking for feedback
Hi! Read through the doc and things looks decent. What sort of feedback are looking for in particular? Would you consider yourself still in a planning phase? When people start writing the first draft I feel like it's 50/50 whether they consider things planned out or not -- if your draft's multilingu...

Re: Visual Novel Maker, from the creators of RPG Maker
Well bad news guys, the owner told everyone at r/visualnovel that its being build on Unity. As you know Unity is not exactly up to date with 2D programs. Also the Plug-in is being sold on Steam which means pay to use. Other 2D engine are better suited than Unity. Oh and if you don't like what i'm s...

Re: Visual Novel Maker, from the creators of RPG Maker
Yeah I saw this and was curious where they saw their market. There are a bunch of free tools out there that are powerful and flexible (ren'py being one of them) that it wouldn't make too much sense for any medium or large indie projects, just because the learning curve on those tools isn't bad at al...

Re: The Devil's Broker [Action, Magic, Guns, Intrigue]
Thanks a bunch for the process notes on the background, it's very illuminating. And some really nice finished results, definitely will be following this (first sub on RMN I think haha). I'm also appreciating the character design, Savard in particular is quite nice. I'm curious though -- the way you'...

Re: How do you interact with a forum?
I do use Slack, actually, and I personally think it might help provide a more modern experience and if advertised could get more people into chat. Not without a couple drawbacks, though. I've recently been through a IRC->slack transition on another game dev forum (RMN) so a brief synopsis: Went well...

Re: How do you interact with a forum?
While it's definitely good to have a helpful and dev-focused forum, it is kind of a shame there's not as much activity around the general boards for just getting to know other people working on games. At least people are occasionally on IRC I guess.

Re: The Destruction of Tokawa Miashi [GxG, BxB, Angst, Horro
On the one hand, this looks interesting. I like the ways the characters relate to each other and it all seems very messy (that's a positive thing, by the way). While what you've described sounds mostly like the premise, it reads like there's a lot of tension in the initial setup and definitely a spa...

Re: To info dump or not?
I would look at where this infodump takes place and how interesting it is to the player. As far as location in the story goes: The reader really has to be invested in the present of the story to care about anything in the past. Dropping worldbuilding stuff or character backstories via flashback etc ...

Haha, looks good, a lot more practical than software any day. Although I think if I tried that I'd run out of vertical real estate.

Re: Outlining Initial Panic
I used to use paper and pencil flowcharts but they quickly became very tangled and difficult to revise. I recommend software like Twine (https://twinery.org/) or I've also seen strong endorsements for articy:draft for interactive stories (http://www.nevigo.com/en/articydraft/overview/).

Re: Singe [Southern Gothic][Surrealism]
Neat! Although when I think "southern gothic" I kind of think more Flannery O'Connor than surrealism. That's some really interesting use of the second person there. Usually in interactive fiction the narrator in second person isn't a person per se, but it looks like it's the deer character...

Re: First time writing for static VN [feedback wanted]
Hello and welcome. What sort of feedback are you looking for? General style notes on writing for VN scripts vs something else? Comments on the story/concept? Editing? Sorry, it's hard to provide feedback at the granularity you're looking for without knowing where you are and what you want to do with...

Re: Minimum Viable Product (MVP)
An MVP for a VN would be testing that the mechanics of the story worked, as most of the time those are the mechanics of the game. There are some exceptions for games with novel control mechanics (like using your phone to make choices, RPG battles, branches based on the player solving puzzles, etc) t...

Re: Nobility Ranking systems in different cultures
I'm no expert but 'Sultan' is a title in plenty of historical governments. You might try a little research starting from some of these: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Template:Royal_and_noble_ranks_of_West,_Central,_and_Southern_Asia https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Ottoman_titles_and_appellatio...
