Re: Alternative to First Person visual novels

I've been pondering experimenting with this, myself, since I have done a couple of visual novels from 1st-person, and wouldn't mind the challenge. The way I've thought of tackling it is instead of making choices for a character, the player chooses where they'd like the plot to go. "What do you ...

Find the other ending to get the epilogue?! Dear god! Looks like I'll be at this awhile. :-P

Re: Jamendo licensing?

The nice thing is that Jamendo actually has licensing plans on behalf of the artists, so you just have to talk to them instead of having to go to the artists. That does take money, though, but the artist get compensated. Of course, you can always just ask the artist yourself; that's always an option...

Re: Would People Pay for Pre-Made Full Asset Sets?

I would pay $19.99 for an asset set. I agree with pappillon. I think you would be just fine selling it at the higher price. The price you suggested isn't so high that it is out of reach for the hobbyist. I also don't mind paying for it, but I'd like to be able to customize them, such as with poses ...

What's great about it is that the OUYA uses bluetooth technology, and as a result, it does take a wireless keyboard quite nicely. I have an older wireless Logitech keyboard with a trackpad, and it does the job nicely.

I second that emotion. I can program the games, but if there's something different we need to do, well...

Re: OUYA - The console for $99 that supports Android

I'd prefer a upfront sum personally for the reason you stated (when you have 20 games doing accounting and % is a total pain and there's always the risk of making mistakes). An alternative I've seen in some libraries/tools would be a subscription model, like $99/year and such. Oh, dear god, let's n...

Re: OUYA - The console for $99 that supports Android

Square Enix ported Final Fantasy III to it, so somebody thinks there's a market for this. I imagine they're testing the waters, but still, they did a good job on the port. I do think that this is the perfect platform for VN's, really, even better than Xbox 360 (there are precious little VN's there, ...

Re: Hidden Object Game Tutorial

If I was to make a walk-through tutorial, would you prefer: a - A video tutorial with audio comments b - a screenshot tutorial with things written out c - both (i.e. the screen shot tutorial being based on the video tutorial) For me, both would work. The video would be great to have, to work to, bu...

Re: OUYA - The console for $99 that supports Android

There is a visual novel on the OUYA right now, called The Vestibule, but there's not too much to it. The interface is a little funky, really. I'm hoping to try to port one of my games to Android and see if it works. I've been having fun with mine. Final Fantasy III has been a lot of fun. I'm hoping ...

Re: Ren'Py 6.14 Released

You should make sure that the file is set to be executable in the properties. Okay, I did that. Had to find where it would allow me to make it executable, but there it was. Checked it. But it still wouldn't run. In the end, I just downloaded the newest version from the website. Simple solution. :mr...

Re: Ren'Py 6.14 Released

Newbie here. I'm using Ubuntu Linux to run Ren'py and i recently used the update, so I'm at the current version. Only problem is, the only way I can run Ren'py now is with Wine. "Ren'py.sh doesn't work, and instead brings up a text file with the code for that file. I tried some VN's i downloade...

Re: OUYA - The console for $99 that supports Android

I went and backed this and got one of my own. I look forward to getting it in March. What I'm wondering is this: will it need any special programming, or will the controller just have ways of emulating keyboard and mouse clicks. I know that there is a touchpad built into the thing, but even so. I gu...
