menu sets not working anymore

Hello! I was just going to test some menu set code that had worked before so I could answer a question in the Q&A section...and the menu set code doesn't work anymore! The code I'm talking about was demonstrated in this thread https://lemmasoft.renai.us/forums/viewtopic.php?p=491503#p491503 Anyone k...

Re: Learn Ren'py by using finished code. Bad Idea?

I used a combination of: -studying the documentation and making test projects using the different things in the documentation (for example I worked through everything in the documentation dealing with bars). -taking the basic Python course at codeacademy.com so I have a grasp of the basics. -Looking...

Re: Skipping certain defined text on random selection [SOLVED]

I think the best thing you could do, would be to take the free basic Python course over at codeacademy.com because it would teach you the basics of Python, classes, functions, etc. It also gives you assignments where you can test your skills. It took me only a few days to do the course. After doing ...

Re: Coding problems.

One should never use define for variables that will change, only default. Things get messed up otherwise. If after making sure your variables are defined using default before the start label, if there are still problems--but only with one variable--the next most likely cause is a spelling inconsiste...

Re: Coding problems.

It says that jane_aff is not defined.
Somewhere before the start label have you defined that variable using default?

Re: Skipping certain defined text on random selection [SOLVED]

So, one thing you can do is create some classes. For example, you could create a card class that holds all the information you want the card to have and a deck class that allows you to draw out cards randomly. Put this code in a fresh project and test it out. See what you get from it. # The script o...

Re: Skipping certain defined text on random selection

The answer to your question is easy. It is a spelling error. In the first block of code you name the Air cards things like "Nine of Air" but in the second block you check for "Nine of air" -- you changed the spelling so they aren't the same things. So fixing your spelling so they are consistent will...

Re: Prevent clicking during dialogue?

No worries at all!

When working on my project I tried out lots of different ways of blocking input and considering how often people ask, I just made that tutorial so other people could see the ways I found.

Re: Prevent clicking during dialogue?

So I while back, I created a project that goes through all the different ways you can block dismissal. I did this because everyone always wants to block dismissal. So here is a my tutorial code that talks about all the different ways to do it. Make a brand new project, and make this code your script...

Re: Prevent clicking during dialogue?

There is a fairly easy way to do this, using character callbacks and config.say_allow_dismiss. I do a version of this for my game. I can explain, but you'll have to give me a few hours as I'm about to GM an RPG on Twitch and I won't be able to put a simple code example together until after I'm done.

I love the 3D Camera too. Though I'm not using it for animation...just for staging. Ah well!

But thanks for alerting me to Träumendes Mädchen...I'll have to follow them along!

Re: How do I stop my game from returning to main menu

It does this because there is nothing that happens in your game after you press the button. So...since there is nothing else in the game...the game ends. You stop this from happening...but continuing on with the game. As an example to show what I mean, do this: label jokergame: call screen jokerplay...
