Re: How did you find and form your VN team?
My teammate is one of my closest RL friends. We've known each other since high school and we've been planning to make games since then. It's only in the recent years that we've actually tried to make them. We also have a lot of other friends who are anime fans and/or gamers that have varied talents,...

Re: Sly Crossing [2014] [Mystery] [on hold indefinitely]
Sorry to hear you've lost your data, that really sucks! And so close to the end of the month too.
To prevent setbacks like this, I suggest everyone use source control (and backups) with every project you do, big or small. That way your code will always be safe.

Re: The Onigami House [NaNoRenO 2012][GxB][Mystery]
Hey sorry :) It's not abandoned, just... going really slowly. We kinda bit off more than we can chew with all that we've planned for the game. Also, we're doing another game for NaNoRenO 2014, using much of what we've learned while working on this one. Rest assured, we are still working on this... w...

Re: Looking for art?
For dA, I tried the Job Offers forum but didn't really get too many replies that fit my criteria or budget.
I had to trawl through the Job Services forum to find an artist with a style that I liked, and open commissions.
Good luck in your search!

Re: Recruiting Collaborative Writer for NaNoRenO Centaur VN
Awww, if we weren't already making something for NaNo I would have loved to team up. Somehow I find it easier to make up stories when the sprites/characters are already existing
And the centaurs look really nice!
Good luck with your project!

Re: GIT and SVN
I use Bitbucket, both for work and personal purposes.
I can use the command line but I tell my teammates to use GitHub for Windows since the interface is easier to understand.

Re: Essential features for EVEN: a new visual novel engine
Sounds great! Looking forward to your new engine.
What I really like about Ren'Py is how the script file reads easily, like a movie script. I want to try other game engines but I'm too spoiled by Ren'Py.
A great debugger is also essential for me, saves a lot of headaches and print statements.

Re: NaNoRenO Tips for Beginners?
I'm going to second what Hijiri and Deji said, keep your game small. This is where we failed the last time. Don't try to program complex games like dating sims, especially if this is your first game. The more paths/branches your story has, the more you have to write. The more characters you have, th...

Participating again this year with a new game even though we didn't finish our last one (it's still in the works though...)
We learned a lot doing The Onigami House so this time we're not biting off more than we can chew!

Wow, you're from Australia that would make conversion easier haha
Not hiring at the moment 'cause we're still finishing up our first game, but definitely will consider you for future games!

Re: Mini games in a VN
We're including mini-games in our main VN project, but we're keeping them very simple - nothing that can't be done within 2-5 minutes. Also they are relevant to the story. The mini-games do affect the outcome, but we have put some leeway (for example, you're allowed to fail twice and still get the b...

Re: Coursera - Free Online Python Class
You'd be surprised how often I hear people struggle to understand how indentation works, and make the same mistake over and over. Ah I think I get what you mean now! Yeah, when I started Ren'Py I already knew a bit of Python (or at least, how important indentation is.) I guess what is needed is sor...

Re: Coursera - Free Online Python Class
It's a shame there isn't a kind soul who knows their way around ren'py, and pygame who isn't willing to create these kinds of tutorials... What kind of tutorials would be needed? I think the Ren'py one has the basics down pat? I agree that Animations and Screen Language still do my head in sometime...

Hey there, I just wanted to say your sprites look awesome and the colouring is fantastic too. Also I saw from your dA that you're from the Phils. I'm Filipino too but I live in Sydney now. Just wanted to say Hi in case I'd ever need your services! Good luck and hope you get a lot of work sent your w...
