Oh, wow! That looks very clean and simple. =3 Thanks, AxemRed!

Re: Writing, Art, Or Coding...What Do You Find the Hardest?

I'm on my first game right now, but I draw (amateur, but I can improve with practice study) already, so that part's the "easiest" for me now. It's kind of frustrating, but at least I can practice and study anatomy and poses, photos, references, etc to improve on that aspect. The other aspe...

Re: If, elif points and lots of multiple love interests

if mummypoints > max(zombiepoints, werewolfpoints, fishboypoints): ps: Make sure you don't forget to handle the case where all points are equal. Ooh, that looks like what I'm looking for! :) Thank you very much. Just to verify, "max" means "maximum", yes? So, for equal cases , i...

If, elif points and lots of multiple love interests

Sorry if this has been asked before, and I read the How to Make a Simple Otome tutorial and the Ren'py Quickstart tutorial, but I'm a little confused. The Otome tutorial is really great, since the programming stuff on Ren'py wiki is a bit confusing to me. I'm doing a simple Halloween Otome (it's my ...

Re: Western and Eastern Games

I love Extra Credits! :D They really provide food for thought. Even though I already knew this stuff (being exposed to mostly male gamer classmates, studied game design/theory, etc), it's good to see a nice clear explanation of why some people prefer WRPG's over JRPG's and vice-versa. I used to like...

Re: Ideas to make a more mainstream VN

Sorry to jump in so late in this thread, but this conversation also reminds me of the IF debates. The whole "is it more of a game or is it a story?" question also comes up in the Interactive Fiction (aka Text Adventures, though some also have 2d graphics and sounds) community as well. Just...

Re: What is your opinion about using 3D art?

Just wondering, are you going to have 3D character "sprites" pop up on the left/right sides of the screen (and these scenes are just the "background")? Or are these scenes you are showing us the "CG"/cutscenes for the story? Just a suggestion, but it's your story (and y...

Re: What is your opinion about using 3D art?

I think it looks a bit better (the second pic on the bottom, I mean), but I'm not a 3D artist/expert. (I'm still a beginner/newbie at 3D, heh.) Maybe to help yourself to decide, you can do one or more scenes (any scenes from your story) with a set of "placeholder" sprites: one set in your ...

Re: BxG VN, can they succeed?

There's been a lot of debates over GxB vs BxG, but I don't know of anyone who exclusively plays one or the other. (I think you'd have to be extremely close-minded to do so) Ah for some reason I couldn't let this comment go. A heterosexual woman who exclusively dates men isn't close-minded to homose...

Re: BxG VN, can they succeed?

I think there are still a lot of BxG games, aren't there? I mean, when I went through the Ren'py games list a while back (on the Ren'py site), there were plenty of BxG games. It's just recently I noticed there are more GxB games coming out (which is awesome for me, being a female who's tired of male...

Re: What is your opinion about using 3D art?

As much as I love 3D stuff, the problem with 3D is that it's hard to make it not look...creepy or stiff. You would also have to make sure the lighting doesn't make the model look weird, either. There's something... plastic-y about 3D if it's not done right. I wish you luck if you still want to do 3D...

Re: Always Bishies that are Predictable....(In Otomes anyway

I think it's because you can see regular people everyday, so people like to see "idealized" characters in their entertainment (whether it's movies, video games, visual novels, etc). I mean, I do understand what you are talking about, but there tends to be an "ideal" image ...

Re: Yes! My BG's are 3D... Problem?...

Your backgrounds look great! :)
Don't let that person put you down.

There are many ways to make art nowadays, so as long as it looks good, who cares? :D
As long as it looks like it fits (and not distract), I don't see a problem with it at all. 8)

Re: tell me why you didn't buy Vera Blanc :)

I've only tried out the demo of the first Vera Blanc game and there are only three things that stopped me for buying that game. 1) I liked the story, but the artwork is only kind of okay...but it could be better. And I say this as someone who actually prefers western-style or anime/western-hybrid ar...
