Re: Novelty progress update (VN maker)

I don't mean to sound impatient, but I was wondering, what features need to be added for the alpha? Because to me it looks ready now, but that's just me. :)

Need help getting characters displayed on screen!

I want to get which character is at a certain position. Like, something similar to " character_at_left() = 'eileen happy' " (Obviously, that's psudeocode, but you get the idea :? ) I've looked all through the manual (including reading over the function index many times), but can't find any...

Re: Novelty progress update (VN maker)

I think that would only complicate things. What happens if you have characters named Bob, Ben and Bill? Actually, the same could be said about RenPy's character system. Each character usually has one letter assigned to it. I mean, you CAN use multiple letters in RenPy, but that just ruins your typi...

Re: Ren'Py 6.6.2 Released

I'm using 6.6.1 right now, and I'm wondering, is the extremely annoying "{w=#} tags malfunction when they are in a position the text that is higher than the characters per second speed" bug fixed? I use this feature a lot, and I had to actually rewrite some lines of my game because of this...

Re: Novelty progress update (VN maker)

From what I've heard, Novelty's system for writing will not hinder the speed or experience of making a visual novel. Pressing Alt-Enter to advance to the next text box is not very hard to do, except that some people might freak out since Alt-Enter is usually used for fullscreen toggle. Again, this s...

Re: Famicom Detective Club Part II (SNES remake) (Screens!)

My WEBSITE FOR IT: http://josh.kargs.net/fdcpii/ Haha, that's pretty cool. I think I've visited it before actually. It must have taken forever to find that official art. You should check out the Wikipedia article on the game though. There's some pretty weird easter eggs in it.... ( WARNING: ...

Famicom Detective Club Part II (SNES remake) (Screens!)

Anyone else played this game? I really liked it, and it really takes the SNES to its full potential in sound and graphics. And plus, it has to be the most radical video game remake ever made. It's almost like the characters and backgrounds were redesigned from the ground up - Most of them barely loo...

Re: Phoenix goes Ren'Py

Seriously, though, Ren'Py's pretty flexible; if you do get stuck on something like that, it's worth asking around on the forum - people are usually happy to help... Haha. Thanks. :) But anyways, if an alternate resource Phoenix Wright project is started, I'm wondering if some of the more small reso...

Re: Phoenix goes Ren'Py

I really need to start reading the manual more... I could have saved myself sooo much trouble... I actually redesigned parts of my script for that game to make it involve less if/then statements....

Re: Phoenix goes Ren'Py

I mean, like adding extra choices to menus. Like: BEFORE: Ask About: Alibi Motive AFTER Ask About: Alibi Motive Hamburger If there's a good way to do it, I'd like to know. I've been using variables, if-then statements and two different menus, like: If var == 1: menu: "Alibi": pass "Mo...

Re: Phoenix goes Ren'Py

There's a freeware game that works very much like Phoenix when it comes to investigation and clue presenting : Fedora Spade (http://studioeres.com/games/fedora). Woah! That looks awesome! Downloading it right now! Actually, I like the look. Reminds me a lot of Super Famicom Detective Club...

Re: Phoenix goes Ren'Py

btw, this is third(jap) or first game? i think it is first but I rather ask ^^ It's the third one. Unless this is a different Phoenix Wright Ren'Py project than the one I played.... :? I'd try to use the system to make a Phoenix Wright thing, but the character animations look like a real pain to se...

Re: Ren'Py on the DS

Ren'Py on the DS would be cool... but kind of hard to do as well. Unless it was optimized for the DS, it would be ridiculously slow, and plus the screen size is an issue. Computer Ren'Py deals with low-res extremely badly, so making the original graphics at that size is not a viable option. :? Plus,...

Re: Ren'Py on the DS

So I'm not the only one that's thought of this? :D

Evidently, Python and SDL have been ported to the DS, which would make a port much easier.
