Re: The Insidious Manipulation of Mr. Jones [NaNo13, BxG, Sc

I had the same error Philip got, I think. I tried both versions you posted but got the same error each time. I'm running on Ubuntu Linux, by the way. Traceback: I'm sorry, but an uncaught exception occurred. While running game code: File "game/Date1.rpy", line 20, in script File "gam...

Re: Gutsy's Skill Trade: Writing, Editing or Programming for

We did have a deal, and I'm going to see it through. (My ipad screen got fixed) I'll do the bgs if you want, I still have the references you gave me. So, do you need like a painty kind of background or more of a detailed kind? A painty one is fine, there's no need for super-detailed. PM me with any...

Re: Lluvia de Peces!

So, this is still happening! I have a new sprite artist, thanks LumenAstrum! But I'm still in need of someone to help with backgrounds. If you'd be interested, please check out my recruitment thread and see if my offer would be good for you. I have reference pictures for the backgrounds, and I need ...

Re: Gutsy's Skill Trade: Writing, Editing or Programming for

So I started a trade with LumenAstrum, and it's going well! However, I do need another person to do backgrounds for Lluvia. I do have lots of reference photos for the backgrounds, although I can't use them directly due to copyright issues. If you're interested, let me know if there's something I can...

Re: 'Reader' vs 'Player' vs another word entirely?

I don't think it should matter to the creator whether what they've made is considered a game, art, both, or neither. That's because (hopefully) creators aren't setting out to create games or art (or things that are called games or art) solely to be recognised as such. Games, novels, plays, movies, ...

'Reader' vs 'Player' vs another word entirely?

So relatively big names in the counterculture game scene seem to want to get rid of the word 'game', on the grounds that the fight over whether or not stuff like a Twine story or a Stencyl game like Dys4ia should count as a game is pointless. Since the large majority of people on this forum make VN/...

Re: In-Game Encyclopedia

Fate/Stay Night has a bit of information about each Servant collected in a book as you discover it, so that's something. And really, 'giant bunch of information collected in documents' is pretty much the entirety of Analogue: A Hate Story. The best encyclopedias are ones that give you what you need ...

Re: What profession should an adult protagonist have?

One that feels like what the protagonist would pick when given the chance, unless that protagonist has a distinct reason preventing them from getting what they want in this regard. What does your protagonist want to do, and why? If they can't do what they want, what do they do instead?

Re: Gutsy's Skill Trade: Writing, Editing or Programming for

It might be good to post what art style your looking for, if you are, and if you'd want the same person for all the assets or wouldn't mind more than one person helping out. ^^ just an suggestion. Right now I'm not looking for anything too specific art-wise, but I definitely will if I get into more...

Gutsy's Skill Trade: Writing, Editing or Programming for Art

I'd like to offer my skills as a writer, editor, or programmer, such as they are, to help someone complete their own projects, in exchange for some art assets (sprites, backgrounds, and CGs.) Since I'm currently bogged down in a few different projects that are in need of art, but not in a position t...

Re: Crawling into the mind of the opposite gender

My usual statement on these things is that you shouldn't worry about gender unless how gender affects people is an essential element to your story. If it isn't, just write characters the Alien way: with no regard for gender until it's time for the casting call (or in the case of VNs, time to actuall...

Well, that was a twist >_> I wish it had been a bit longer, the character relationships needed more time to develop.

Four endings so far. It's not bad, but I'm not sure why you tried to avoid using the words as written?

Re: Still Life [NaNoRenO 2013]

Just finished! The art and ambient sounds were really well done, I think it was the strongest aspect of the work. My biggest gripe was the stilted narration, constantly breaking the sentences up made everything feel choppy and awkward. I also think more differentiation on how the brother and sister ...
