Re: Last game you played?

Super Mario Maker for the Wii U. Despite some of the missing features, it's still a blast :D .

Re: Do you hate your writing?

I actually find that I enjoyed my old works more than my current ones, even if they sounded cheesy/dated compared to how I write now. I guess it's because when I wrote those back then, I actually felt like I was writing with as much freedom as I could. Nowadays though I just feel kind of overwhelmed...

Re: Trivial choices

I actually like those kind of choices to be honest, especially if they're used to describe just what kind of person the character may be (Think Skyward Sword's options for Link as an example). Then again, I'd also rather not have too much at once either. Maybe sprinkle a couple of them across the ga...

Re: Reluctance to share ideas

I used to think this as well, but I have since learned not to care because there are no original ideas, and all ideas are borrowed from somewhere. During my creative writing class in high school, one of the assignments we got from my teacher involved everyone in the class to write a story about a ho...

Need help deciding which of these two titles are better

Okay, so for my project I came up with these two titles: A Bizarre Summer Season, and A Bizarre Summer Vacation. The subtitle is 'When the Owls Sing'. Here's a summary of what my project is about: Oliver, the protagonist, is a university student who is currently on Summer break. He decides to use th...

Re: Tyranobuilder?

So I bought it just to try it out myself during my time at AX, and I must say I do enjoy the simplicity of the software. However, I have to wonder why they don't have a command to boot you back to the title screen at the end of a scene/your game. I mean, once the scene is finished, you're just stuck...

Re: Tyranobuilder?

Didn't think it was appropriate to start a new topic when this one was still near the top, so I will be posting here. What's the verdict on this software? I haven't used Ren'Py in nearly three years because of job training, as well as writing my story out in docs first, so I'm afraid I've forgotten ...

Re: Can't recall any VNs doing this, but what are your thoug

Thanks a lot for your input guys, and yeah, I'll scrap the whole bad, normal, good etc ending thing. The way I have planned things is that each ending is canon (even the dead ends); they just split off into their own parallel universe/timeline to create alternate futures in case I ever want to write...

Can't recall any VNs doing this, but what are your thoughts?

I know this is a pretty long read, but please bear with me here. :) So I've been writing my story off and on for almost 2 years now, pondering day and night on how I could write a happy or bittersweet ending for a multiple story route plot, since I want to emphasize the importance of the player's ro...

Re: Static sprites vs. dynamic sprites?

I prefer static myself to be honest, since something about those dynamics bug me. While not necessary, lip-to-text syncing (Think Phoenix Wright) is a nice addition though.

Re: Should the adverb rule apply to dialogues too?

Interesting responses so far. Then I guess the more ideal thing to do would be to keep them in check and use them only when there's no other way to convey a feeling without changing it's meaning.

Re: Should the adverb rule apply to dialogues too?

While true, I don't exactly want to annoy my readers if it's possible. I do make some exceptions though, if they're saying something that I can't find a better way to express.

Re: Should the adverb rule apply to dialogues too?

Any opinion about the subject is relevant if you ask me, since it provides different viewpoints from other people. :) To be honest though, I can see why they consider adverbs taboo. I mean, I was using them a lot until recently (my other topic with the my first chapter used to have them), and after ...

Should the adverb rule apply to dialogues too?

(Skip to second paragraph if you already know what adverbs are) For those who don't know, an adverb is a modifier that changes/simplifies a verb or adjective. That means most words that ends with -ly are adverbs (really, only, definitely, finally etc. Not all of them are adverbs, like apply for exam...
