Re: Changing mouse pointer midgame.

No problem. That method changes the cursor by changing a config variable, which can do all sorts of funny things outside of init blocks. Funny thing is, I used this method: setattr(config, "mouse", {"default": [("mousecursor.png", 0, 0) ]}) And revert it with: setattr(config, "mouse", None) Which wo...

Re: Problem with automatically loading files

The problem lies here: "image img = None" is NOT Python and can not be used inside a function. It is Ren'py script and can only used outside of functions or python blocks. You need to be aware that there are actually four(!) languages used by Ren'py: Python, Ren'py script, screen language and ATL. W...

Re: [solved] Inventory Screen

You can call a screen with arguments, just like a function. I've been told that defining and calling a screen with arguments is faster than calling it without, even if it's an empty argument list, so I've made it a habit to include them.

Re: Inventory Screen

Just make a screen with a button:

Code: Select all

screen inventorybutton():
textbutton "Inventory" xalign .95 yalign .05 action Show("inventoryscreen")
Show this screen and let it sit there.

Re: Timeline Save States

I see what you are going for. You want each decision be final and to have impact, and to make the player think about what he wants to choose. That's not really a problem. Remove all keybindings and buttons that bring up the load/save screen and set this as True: define config.has_autosave = True def...

Re: Image scaling / zooming

Ah cool, thanks. I always thought LiveComposite was something different than im.composite (due to the "Live" part). But I do see a trend of classes taking the place of functions.

Re: [Solved] Exception error "required parameter current_name has no value" at the end of code

Kivik solved it in the other thread already, but it's as I suspected: The previous label carries over into this label, expecting parameters it didn't get. Labels aren't python functions. I you don't tell them what to do after they are finished, they will just go on to whatever is next in the file. I...

Re: Image scaling / zooming

Oh okay, I just use it without looking it up :D
What is an alternative way of compositing images that is not deprecated?

Re: Image scaling / zooming

It works on its own (even looks okay, just a bit darker where it's translucent), but it doesn't work inside an im.Composite. I can rewrite that part though. Thank you, I can use this!

Re: Syntax for menu error, please help

Did you call the label name_accept with parameters? There should be 4.

Re: Stats/Inventory Screen Critique

It looks decent to me. However, the HP/MP almost look cut off in the first frame. (Which would worry me as a player as I need to know what my HP is!) I prefer the look by Moirnoir, FWIW, as it looks a bit more open/intuitive. That's only the preview. Click it and you see the full image :D (It might...

Re: Image scaling / zooming

Using At got me an exception: File "game/inventory.rpy", line 385, in keywords imagebutton idle im.Composite((50,50), (0,0), "images/interface/emptyinv.png", (0,0), At("images/items/"+i.inv.slot[j].getimage('icon')[0]+".png", itemzoom(0.5))) action [SensitiveIf(renpy.get_screen("waitforevent")), Fun...

Image scaling / zooming

Currently I have three separate images for each item: One lying on the ground, one in the inventory, and one closeup view. As many items are small enough that the ground image and the inventory image can be the same, or large enough that the closeup image and the ground image can be the same, or the...
