Re: How do I randomize using unfixed numbers?

It crashes on start so I never get that far:
AttributeError: 'NoneType' object has no attribute 'random'

But I assume its my randomizing Renpy doesn't like. If I comment it out the program works perfectly – except for the thing the randomizer was supposed to do of course.

How do I randomize using unfixed numbers?

Posted this in the wrong forum section first, sorry about that. Let's try again. I want to be able to use a dynamic/changing numbers when I randomize. This is basically what I want to do: $ random_thing = renpy.random.randint(1, changing_number) It doesn't seem to get that "changing_number" is a var...

Re: Realtime action question

Thanks Jake. I looked through the Renpygame stuff, but since I'm still new at programming I think I 'll keep taking babysteps towards understanding things. I actually started this part of my project to learn the basics of For and While and thought I might be able to do something easy with them.

Re: 2 characters appearing at the same time?

This works for me. Both characters dissolve at the same time.

Code: Select all

   show character1 at left
   show character2 at right
   with dissolve

Re: Realtime action question

Well, the example was in quasicode so it won't run as it is. I just wanted to know if While would do the trick. I think you answered my question here though. ;-) ...but it seems to me it requiries more than casual level of coding skills to pull off. I think I'll stick to turnbased then, since I alre...

Realtime action question

I've been fooling around with ways to add different kinds of gameplay to my program. Now I'm not a programmer so I don't fully understand how stuff works. I'm currently trying to let the user move an image around the screen. Here's the idea in quasicode. init: $ game_is_on: label start while game_is...

Re: What pixel am I hitting?

I'm confused. Could you elaborate a little on how I should/could go about it?

Edit: Just tell me to hit the books, If it's overly complicated. ;)

What pixel am I hitting?

So, I'm trying to figure out a way to figure out where the player is clicking on the screen. I'm aware of renpy.imagemap, but I would like to avoid defining 800 x 600 hotspots or so. Since renpy.imagemap works at all I can only assume that the program knows where the user is clicking. Is there a way...

Re: Show image with variable name

Ahem, nevermind. Bit of a brainfart there. I didn't catch my syntax error before I posted. It works now. Thanks PyTom.

Re: Show image with variable name

What if I wanted a bit more complex and get the information from a list within a list. This for instance doesn't seem to work as well.

Code: Select all

   $ variable = "%d.png" % list[0[1]]

Re: Show image with variable name

Follow up question. The code above works like a charm when the variable is full of text. However, I'm doing a calender and I want to do: $ calender = time + ".png" show calender Time is of course a number. The .png's are named 2007.png and so on. So, how do I make the program understand I want to tr...

Show image with variable name

I know I've seen this done somewhere, but I can't seem to find it again. I want to take a variable value and 'make' an image with it. In my crazy trials to find the right syntax I got this. But of course it doesn't work. That's why I need help. $ variable = something $ ui.imagebutton(%[variable]s+"_...
