Re: Shoko: VN Composer

Hello everyone! After taking a break from commissioning and letting this topic fade into obscurity for a while, I'm proud to announce I'm now available to commission again! I've updated the main post on my current rates and updated the visual novel sampler with newer tracks. I'm looking forward to c...

Re: More is Less - Is that always true?

No offence, but I skipped through a lot of the story in DDLC because it was extremely boring to read. The first day makes the "generic school club" scenario pretty clear, yet it drolls on with some incredibly dull character building for a while before the twist. Even if it's "on purpo...

Re: True endings and their influence on narrative

There's a BIG difference between a true end that takes forces you to play through the other routes to be unlocked and one that takes place on the same accessibility level as the others. True end VNs done right make the routes you play individually satisfying on their own while whetting your appetite...

Re: Shoko: VN Composer

I am definitely going to hire you to compose for my Visual Novel: Our Healing Hearts, once I am at a stage I feel comfortable working on getting Music. Look forward to it :) I know I will. Lol good to know! Your VN has an interesting premise I'd enjoy composing to. :D Feel free to PM me whenever yo...

I'd enter if "Deluxe Edition" means they fixed that really awkward translation.

Re: Anime and Ethics: Horrible Work Conditions In the Indust

While the pay they're giving them is monstrously bad, I don't think boycotting is a real answer. The anime industry is in decline as it is and it seems like it would just cost the animators whatever money they do get.

Re: Who runs VN Review sites?

Yeah, wouldn't it be best to just use a different username and post reviews without having to hold back? Even better would be a place like hummingbird.me for VNs, where analysis of VNs could have it's own place apart from creators (Vndb kind of fits that criteria, but it's more of a database IMO).

Re: What Are Some Common Visual Novel Clichés?

To be clear, my interpretation of what the 'mistake' part of the topic was supposed to be about was inarguable, non-opinion based, and avoidable/feasibly fixable errors. That's why I don't agree because I interpreted it as those being overall incorrect. I'm not saying they're the best things to hav...

Re: What Are Some Common Visual Novel Clichés?

^Unless you're talking from a strictly commercial stand point I have to disagree with those examples ^^;, except the last few. If you are talking commercial you can ignore the explanation as to why I disagree X3. Anyways, if a project could have high quality/custom everything it most likely would. ...

Re: So, you want a Critique? [Rant]

So you want a Critique? Yup. Do you even know what a Critique actually is? cri·tique kriˈtēk/ noun : critique; plural noun: critiques 1. a detailed analysis and assessment of something, especially a literary, philosophical, or political theory. synonyms: analysis, evaluation, assessment, appraisal,...

Re: How to Deal with Shame as a Writer?

There is so much bad writing in the world. Go look up any random review site for movies, books ect, and most likely 90% of what's reviewed will be called trash. And that's just what's 'professional' writing. Your own bad writing is nothing special in and of itself in this context, just another drop ...

Re: Cheap Labor: When People Undersell Themselves

Eh, is there even that big of a "LemmaSoft Economy" that this matters? I really doubt any actually good artists are being forced to undersell themselves due to the competition. Anything else about 'cheapening the craft' is just baseless opinion.

Re: What Are Some Common Visual Novel Clichés?

Everyone else seems to have pointed out the cliches already.

Common mistakes? Bad writing, horrible art, using the same licensed music as everyone else, not bothering to change the GUI, not using SFX, not using transitions, and an unspellchecked script.
