I think buying a graphics tablet is a good investment in your art, even if you don't plan on doing art professionally. I always keep the default names, unless they are so awful sounding that I'm compelled to change them. But if they have no name given I usually name them either Lola or Loki depending if they are male or female. I like to keep it simple.

I'm afraid I've been out of the anime loop myself lol. But there are alot of good titles that aren't so old.
