Re: Dorne's Arts and Animations

I'm planning on doing some more animations for the Month of February, and putting them in VN format. I was originally going to use a game maker approach, but I'm more used to Ren'Py than GM.

Re: Enticing players to do something for extras in game

While I'm no talented programmer, I do know there's a little python trick to open websites without the reader's consent. The NaNoRenO16 game 'Segmentation fault' used it to give a sense of meta creeps. This sort of interaction is very meta, and I love it! I think the key thing here is to make sure ...

Re: Enticing players to do something for extras in game

What you are giving them in return for this is an entertaining experience. The audience are not your servants, you are theirs. The author should try to make an experience that caters to its audience. In context and roles of the genre, the audience can act the part of a servant. Sort of like Simon s...

Enticing players to do something for extras in game

What would you get your players to do in order to access more of your game content? Things that don't involve money. Let's say the content of your game is freely available, but in order to access some content, they had to do something for you? I'm thinking of an example I want to implement, where if...

Thanks for your thoughts. I'll consider this option as a last resort. I hope it doesn't have to be that way.

Re: Get that thing off your chest... Now...

I need to get this out of the way. I made two mistakes which cost my business about $1000 worth. One was accepting a job without a deposit, only for the customer's boss to back out on the actual order, even if the specifications were the exact same as what my customer wanted. Thus I have an inventor...

Re: Average playtime in a single seating

Thanks for all of your responses! Some of you responded that you have a short window of time to determine if a Visual Novel would be worth it to continue to read. Next up is half hour - 2 or so hours for a decent session. Then there are those who go 7 hours+ to complete longer novels if they are lon...

Ascii Cyberpunk Visual Novel

Here's an idea that I'm entertaining. Just a bit of cyberpunk fiction using an ascii terminal. It would feature ascii image animations, audio, and an animated ascii interface controllable by keyboard. One possibility may be to include an SDL2 window to create animations that resemble the real world,...

Average playtime in a single seating

I'm curious to know how long people usually invest their time on a visual novel in one sitting before needing to do something else. Whenever I have a good amount of time I can invest myself in a story or two without worrying but when time is scarce I tend to wait until I have a bigger block of time ...

Re: best way to capture a video from a renpy game.

I've tested all different wayt I can set up game capture but it didn't work, and I can't find: stretch image to screen funny thing is: it shows the game while it's minimized but when I go back to the game it captures just the desktop. I guess I'll have to forget the full screen capture for now. I w...

Re: best way to capture a video from a renpy game.

@NialGrenville thank you for your help, I've finally downloaded OBS it's a great tool, very versatile and very easy to use and no lag with most of setups. there is only one small problem. no matter what settings I use, I can capture any renpy game while full screen. Here's my setup, let me know if ...

Here's a test recording with OBS for "I Suddenly Became A Magical Girl". You can customize the aspect ratio, but it seems to work fine for me:

Re: I Suddenly Became A Magical Girl... [Yuri Jam 2016]

I just got through the demo. So far I'm liking the concept! Some things to praise: It looks like you're versed in the mahou shoujo category, especially the serious kind, so I'll expect some delicious drama and thrills. Your menus are very polished and give a good vibe. Each character has their own s...
