Re: Potential tech which could generate 2d illustration from 3d assets

While I haven't used it myself, you might be interested in StyLit. The biggest downside seems to be that you can only shade in one style. It sounds like it's not exactly what you're thinking of, but it can get you similar results.

Re: How do your diseases/disabilities affect your hobby/work

I've been to several doctors. After Cat scans, blood tests and some other general checkups, the best diagnosis I got was an inner ear imbalance causing vertigo. Medical treatment includes: deal with it. Man, that sucks to hear. At least it sounds like your doctors have some idea of what's going on,...

Re: How do your diseases/disabilities affect your hobby/work

Essentially, I'll wake up one day in immense pain and everything will be spinning rapidly. If I lay on one side and keep absolutely still, normally I can lessen the intense dizziness, but not usually. Its effects include extreme nausea, debilitating spinal pain and pretty much making me feel like s...

Re: Designing a more immersive experience for players ?

I think one important thing to remember is that minimalism is a philosophy, not an aesthetic. Right now, you have all the standard elements a non-minimalist interface would have, but just de-emphasized them. That actually makes it less immersive because the player has to consciously look for informa...

Re: Get that thing off your chest... Now...

FWIW, you seem to be doing a better job managing it than my sister does. I know she tries sometimes, but it's still frustrating when she knows she can just act up and everyone will give her all the attention she wants. In any case, sorry to hear about your computer. I hope you're able to find what's...

Re: Art software (Paint Tool SAI) troubleshooting?

One thing I noticed with my wacom is that pen pressure will only work on GIMP when I open the program with my pen. I'm not sure if it's the same with SAI, but it's worth a shot. Another thing that you might consider is that each tablet can support multiple pens. Is it possible that your preferences ...

Re: Get that thing off your chest... Now...

So, my 5'6", 250 lbs. sister has been feeling " Very Homocidal" lately, and just called the cops to inform them that she really wants to kill my mom (her current guardian) so she can get a brand new guardian. After talking with them for a few hours, she politely decided that she would...

Re: "I would totally play your game if I had the time and mo

Maybe we need a 'critique' subforum although I'm not sure such a thing would get the participation required to make it worthwhile. After all it's hard enough just to get a comment on a WIP or completed game let alone a critique which is more difficult and time-consuming to write. Maybe something co...

Re: "I would totally play your game if I had the time and mo

But maybe the critic didn't enjoy anything about the game, but see ways the unfinished game could be better? But at that point, if they truly didn't enjoy anything , they don't want the creator's game to be better. They want the creator to make the game the critic envisioned. That's the thing that'...

Re: "I would totally play your game if I had the time and mo

Sorry, I just got off a rough day of work and made my post more aggressive than I meant it to be. I should also point out that my post was replying to LateWhiteRabbit, and I only glanced at your post before hitting submit. So, the Renpy games I play are 95% really good and not a small percentage of ...

Re: "I would totally play your game if I had the time and mo

It's funny - after years on Lemmasoft, it appears to me that a lot of the forum-goers think they are providing support by not critiquing WIP threads. Again, the discouragement issue. And as Taleweaver and yourself have pointed out, silence and platitudes kind of suck when you are looking for real f...

Definitely going to when I have a little extra time and money. You need 3 dollars and 20 minutes. Stop making excuses, skip Starbucks today and get it. You don't need to be an ass. Not everybody has expendable income. Anyways, I have to say I really enjoyed this version. It's been a while since I p...

Re: "Create Imaginative Games" Coursera MOOC by CalArts

One of the courses does say story and narrative. Isn't that a bit focused towards story driven games? If I don't want this specific course, is it skippable? 5 courses Follow the suggested order or choose your own. It looks like all the courses are relatively independent of each other, so you can ta...

Re: "Create Imaginative Games" Coursera MOOC by CalArts

Edit: Extra Credits and similar channels are all nice and helpful, but they are food-for-thought and can never replace formal education/ training and sheer practice. I agree with you, but I wanted to add that Extra Credits is designed to help people analyze games, not make them. They work as a supp...
