Re: Question... NEED ANSWER SOON ! :-)

Making such a game in RPG Maker is very possible, and actually rather easy just using built-in timers and variables. It has been done multiple times before. There also exist scripting and graphical resources for this sort of thing, just look around the RM communities. RM games can also be released c...

Re: Sci-fi: Do you expect alien dates, or human only?

I'm sure I'm in the minority, but I'm enthralled by the concept of romancing aliens - of the properly alien kind, counting both body and mind. There's something amazing about exploring the relationship of characters that can never fully understand each other. However, such a relationship is, apparen...

Re: Romance VNs/Dating Sims are dubious manipulation games?

All human relationships are manipulation. I find it surprising and a little confusing that some people consider this to be a bad thing. We want to appeal to the people we like, and we do that by choosing to do and say... things that appeal to them. This is in no way dubious, it's simply how things w...

Re: Static sprites vs. dynamic sprites?

The animated sprites are aesthetically pleasing but also very distracting. Reading a whole VN with stuff constantly moving in the background would be exhausting and possibly headache-inducing. I would only recommend this if the game is short and is light on the writing. Otherwise, blinking eyes is a...

Re: your fetish?

So there's this fetish list on wikipedia someone linked earlier: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_paraphilias I found that I can potentially get turned on by around 70% of those things. Including many of the really dark ones. Normal people wouldn't get within 10 meters of me if they knew my &quo...

Re: Do you play as same or opposite gender?

I mostly play bishoujo VNs; those have male protagonists. I really don't get the "I can't relate to the opposite gender" argument. I've been playing male characters for most of my life and never oncehad this problem. Yes, men and women are different and think differently, but the differenc...

Re: Bisexuality in VNs

Like Meneil said, making the gay option feel "tacked on" will disappoint people who were specifically looking forward to it. If you plan to include it, it should feel as important and wholesome as every other route. That's my opinion anyway.

Re: Serafina's Saga [Romance, Drama, Adventure] [GxB][GxG]

Just finished playing, and I really liked it! The characters are all attractive in their own way. Although we don't get to know a lot about them, the game definitely succeeds in giving them all a distinct personality. The art style is very expressive and appeals a lot to me. Making wholesome art, wr...

Re: Relationship problems in a romance visual novel

The protagonist does not really care about Heroine C & D that much at the common route (no choice would ever make him change his mind, that is). I understand the layout. It's quite pedagogical already, so the only thing you have to worry about is hinting which path the player has to take in ord...

Re: Relationship problems in a romance visual novel

Q1: Define “pure love” Conceptually, there's nothing wrong with these kinds of stories. But there are some things you have to consider to make it plausible. Like Didule said, you have to sort out who's dumping who, because that will affect the image of the characters. For example, if the protagonis...

Re: White Box [Romance, Tragedy]

Just finished it, and I must say, I liked the writing quite a bit; it had quality. Using silhouettes really helped to divert the reader's attention to the writing itself, and also helped create a somber atmosphere. Although, revealing the sprites in the end ruined it a bit. I think the characters wo...

Re: What is your type?

I find some of the posts here quite confusing. Like, he has to be funny but serious. He has to be relaxed but ambitious. He has to be devoted, but not jealous. He has to be intelligent, but not too proud of it. I realise these are just wishes, but I'm curious if people actually apply such self-contr...

Re: Amount of info the protag has at the beginning.

The protagonist having little to no information at the beginning is easier to handle, since it makes the story flow more naturally and the player is generally on the same page as the protagonist. If the protagonist is informed, the information should gradually be shared with the player through conve...
