My characters surprise me constantly. My characters are like my friends - I can give them advice, but they don't have to take it. If your characters are real, then they surprise you, just like real people.

Re: Japanese honorifics?
A matter of taste indeed. In my case, Japanese honorifics should only be used when appropriate: when the characters themselves are Japanese. I DO NOT like it when Japanese games/movies/television portrays americans who use the same honorifics as if they were Japanese. This of course bleeds over into...

Re: Writing Tip: Writing HORROR
I agree that a true monster, one that will both be difficult to defeat, AND also be true horror, is one that can not be overcome by direct physical force. It is the kind of thing that needs to be overcome by using your head (out-witting), or by good luck (dumb luck?). In the case of out-witting the ...

Re: Writing Tip: Writing HORROR
I'm not going to try to change your mind, as you seem to have made it up already, but consider the following: What do you call a person who is BORN missing those "things" that make them a psychopath (what you believe to be a condition you are born with), that neither acts on their lack of ...

Re: Writing Tip: Writing HORROR
I would also say, however, that not all psychopaths are monsters, because they have and use self-control.
Also, not all monsters are psychopaths, for they are a product of nature, or of people.

Re: Character Interaction
[golf clap] The truth of it all is that SOMETIMES less is more. Style 1: Over-descriptive In this style, the writer spends too much time trying to get the reader to understand/feel, etc. Result: boredom. Style 2: Under-descriptive In this style, the writer doesn't spend enough time trying to get the...

Re: Writing Tip: Writing HORROR
Funny, I find that the most intense monster is the complete stranger, who, in an effort to get close to you, puts ITSELF in the same position you are. With intent, gains your trust, gets to know you, and you to know them (how they want you to know them). Then, when there is almost no chance of escap...

Re: Creating a Fictional World
As a person who has created two, VERY in-depth worlds for Pen and Paper RPGs (although that isn't exactly the same thing), the ASPIRE model works nicely. Another thing you have to take into account, though, is how ALIKE your world is to ours. When you write a story, you have to connect the reader to...

Thanks!
I'm going over the Ren'py cookbook. I haven't had much programming practice (learned basic pretty well...), but I'm learning fast.

Adult (18+) games?
I plan on making adult (18+) works through this site. I am just getting started on the script (I write a script THEN will code, while I work on some drawings for it) for my first title. I plan on posting in the "Let's Hentai Hentai" area. I have updated my birthdate, and PMed the moderator...
