Re: Voice Acting and Protagonists with Changeable Names?
To name another game, Final Fantasy 10. The script was crafted in such a way that the characters avoid mentioning the Tidus' name. From what I remembered, the characters mostly talk among themselves and Lulu and Auron served as the exposition character. When exposition was necessary, they would simp...

Re: Visual Novels: Should We Abandon the Term? And How?
If comments are the only thing you judge by, then in this forum alone the trend is that anime style art is more popular than their counterparts. Even when the anime art has a lot more anatomical mistakes/is worse overall, they still get a lot more attention. Depending on what kind of demographic yo...

Re: Scientific evidence points out: Anime "Lain" may be corr
I'm choose to be stubborn and stick to not wanting to wax philosophy and delving into what-ifs. I'm more interested in whether or not we are actually living in or are a simulation and that any being could actually achieve the technology to do so. I'll look further once that has been proven. Although...

Re: Scientific evidence points out: Anime "Lain" may be corr
The philosophy I find closest to this idea is Solipsism, the idea that you cannot be certain if the entirety of existence might actually be real. It is probably possible to achieve the level of technology to do so; but if so, how would we know that we are in or are simulations? I've never watched La...

Re: This week on Extra Credits: Beyond Fun
I like.
I have 2 questions though. 1, will enough people like these types of games to continue supporting the production of them? And 2, I wonder how far we can take this.
And yea, if the Extra Credits people are interested in this, they could definitely look more into visual novels.

Re: NVL mode readability
I've got to admit, I've never thought of putting the text to one side. Thanks for the demonstration. Now that you've brought it up, I have another question. Do you keep the text on the same side of the screen throughout the novel, or do you move it around occasionally. If so, then how often and in w...

NVL mode readability
I'm looking for opinions regarding text displayed in NVL mode. On guidelines for making the ease and comfort of reading text. One big difference between NVL and ADV I've seen is that NVL has the text start from the top while ADV has text stuck at the bottom of the page. That means that the text will...

Ouch yea, I should avoid legal issues. Thanks for the heads-up.
Yea, parody sounds nice. I'm not too hot about logo design though. Thanks for the replies.

Mentioning real websites in-game
I'm not sure how to properly word this question, meh. I was thinking of making a story that is set in the recent past of our real-life world in which the internet would play a tiny role. Question is, is there a procedure of sorts about mentioning real world websites in game, like Google, Facebook, T...

Indie Game: The Movie
GiantBomb's coverage
It's a documentary of sorts that follows developers of several successful indie games.
I have not watched the movie yet, but it got good reviews and I thought you guys (and girls) might be interested.

Re: Face to Face character format
Repeating Auro and panda: need more sprites = more work. To get a sense of just how much, take a look at Miles Edgeworth's spritesheet . Ah, Swordcraft Story, brings back memories. Also, personally I just don't like to draw the main character. And you have to consider how to fit many people into one...

Re: Endings in Visual Novels
I like those wtf endings, like the dog ending in Silent Hill 2. Or the mind-numbingly confusing Metal Gear Solid 2 ending.
Besides that, I tend to prefer bittersweet and horribad soul-crushingly depressing endings. I'm too much of a cynic to appreciate good endings.
