Re: Project PD
There is limited tabbing (it's all default behavior), but it would definitely be nice for it to be uniform. I'll add to it to my to-do list. Other hotkeys are doable, but since everything runs in the browser it makes it a little trickier to do standard ones like ctrl+s. I'll look into how to make it...

Re: Player Interaction in a Story
Less choices imply a strong and captivating enough story in the behind. If you're making a light plot, that kind of thing, more choices are better to keep the player in the atmopshere. For instance ef ~ a fairy tale of the two is in almost 4 parts and has 6 choices : 3 in the first part, 2 in the s...

Re: Project PD
This sounds like it's going to be an interesting project. I'm not so keen on it being web based though since my internet is wonky and will refresh all of the pages I have open whenever one page stops working (which happens a lot for some reason!). Since games are played by 'uploading' them will we ...

Re: Player Interaction in a Story
I guess I'm unusual here, because I love having lots of choices and interaction with my games. I feel like cooperative storytelling (between the player and game's author) is what makes visual novels and interactive fiction so cool. I can appreciate games that are more linear with very few choices, b...

Re: Project PD
Just the basics so far (copying, pasting, select all, etc.). What kind of keyboard shortcuts would you like to see? I'm definitely going to add a save hotkey, but are there any others that would make it easier? Cycling windows, or things like that maybe? I'm very open to adding any other new feature...

Re: How much writing per textbox?
I'd say a good rule of thumb is to only put in each box what the player's going to be able to imagine at once. So each step in the scene is a new box. She turns around and bends down to flip through the class list on her desk. I notice some of the guys breaking their necks to get a good look at her....

Re: Second Person POV
I love second person games, but it really depends on your audience and your game in my opinon. They work a lot better for games with a lot of choices rather than a lot of text. Writing a lot of content in second person can get annoying fast.

Re: Rewarding readers for obtaining bad ends?
In Lighting Warrior Raidy 1 and 2, a hybrid RPG-VN (with main female protagonist), most of the sex scenes could only be unlocked if Raidy lost (meaning bad endings, better save beforehand). Actually, in lots of H-game with female protagonist, there will be a special H-scene if the protagonist lost ...

Project PD
Hey everybody! This post isn't about Ren'Py, but since everybody here is a fan of IF and visual novels (I hope), I was hoping to get your feedback anyway. I've been working on a new IF engine and authoring system for a little while now, and before I get any further into it I wanted to get a few opin...
