Re: The Imperium Project

wee, just finished the Student Game Developers' expo. If you're interested, here's a video of our projects. TIP's battle system is the second one. [ from 0:30 to 0:50 ] http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h_DGNbMZl_g The other directors inform me that the system should turn out pretty well once I get tim...

Re: How Ren'Py handles the memory?

From the documentation : Caching. By default, image manipulators are cached in memory before they are loaded. Supplying the cache=False argument to an image manipulator will prevent this caching. This should only be used when an image manipulator is never used directly (such as by an image statemen...

Re: TileEngine and UnitEngine: v1.0 released!

Ah sweet, I guess my brain was still missing the connection to that particularly detail. Thanks a bunch. Are you actually explicitly drawing black, though? Because you haven't mentioned that you are at all. All renpy.scene() will do is remove things from the unrelated-to-graphics-memory draw list wh...

Re: TileEngine and UnitEngine: v1.0 released!

I do get how it's handling. After all, I'm not trying to draw black with renpy.scene here, I'm just trying to erase the last tileengine layer that was drawn, if it wasn't being erased already. The fact in the pic older layers are covering up the black is convincing me it's not erasing the layers but...

Re: How to open .rpy files with windows?

You could always just do rightclick->openwith->chooseprogram and in that window select something and "always use the selected program..." Warning: apart from any special text editing (like wordpad/microsoft word [ " ], they don't use the ASCII version...), renpy always doesn't use tab...

Re: TileEngine and UnitEngine: v1.0 released!

renpy.scene and ui.clear are reasonable ways of doing this. Ren'Py will cache some additional data (like up to 8 screens worth of images), but it should eventually reach a stable state after which memory usage is controlled entirely by the complexity of the screen. Then would this probably be the r...

Re: TileEngine and UnitEngine: v1.0 released!

Okay, seeing as we've been making massive changes to the Tile/UnitEngine for our game, something interesting as come up: This engine is a massive memory hog, to the point that it's. To be precise, it's the Show() function. It's as if it doesn't clear the memory each time it draws the full map or som...

Tile/Unit-Engine : Animations

I hope the guy who wrote the Tile/Unit-Engine code is still around to look at this :p So that's a particularly thing I figure I'd ask before I mess with it too much, but. It does not seem like UnitEngine v1.0 is designed to work with animations. I realize that frame-by-frame animations (in separate ...

Re: The Imperium Project

Hmm, I was interested in doing music for this project but you've got a composer now. Unless, you're willing to put up with the trouble of two[/t], heh. I wouldn't mind. Graphics and music are suppose to be the two development front that requires the most personnel in a typical VN project I believe,...

Re: The Imperium Project

we've evolved! ...well sorta... official group-name declared: Major Arcana [/i] (I'm probably going to use Marcana as a diminutive myself) and I'd like to welcome two new members: Dokper as graphic artist (coloring/shading) and probably also editor - this is one blessing Honya has been dying for. Re: On Moe-Moe

With so much attention being diverted to Strike Witches I have to wonder if we're talking about the same OAV that was released a few months ago? I mean I'm all about moétic mecha masamune, but that show was well neigh unwatchable (even putting the ludicrous amounts of loli fan service aside...). (^...
