Re: Let's Code: Every Thursday at 7pm CST!

You want something that is keyword heavy because it helps people find your videos. As they are titled right now, they won't come up for Ren'Py searches, and if you are discussing a certain topic, you definitely want that in the title. This. Donmai, how would you recommend I title it, then? Hm, now ...

Re: Let's Code: Every Thursday at 7pm CST!

Yeah, I think I've found the third problem: the thread's title seems very elusive to me because it doesn't mention Ren'Py or scripting (definitely your videos are not about coding). If you say "coding" many people here will believe you're teaching python. People often complain that the Ren'Py docs a...

Re: Let's Code: Every Thursday at 7pm CST!

Hi, Empish. I think I better make a post here before this thread is considered a "non-discussion thread"... :) You've been adding wonderful stuff here, but I see two problems with this thread. The first is that it's Ren'Py related, but it is outside the Ren'Py section. The second is in its presentat...

Re: Moving Animation After Doing Truecenter

Yes, truecenter, as the name suggests, centers everything on screen. Forget it, that's not what you want in this case. The top left corner is the default anchor position. You should change the anchor to the center of the figure. If you were using ATL I would be able to help you, but python functions...

Re: How to add an icon in the game?

The "icon" you refer to should be an imagebutton (https://www.renpy.org/doc/html/screens.html#imagebutton) inside a new screen, which will perform the action (https://www.renpy.org/doc/html/screen_actions.html#OpenURL) you want. That new screen which contains the imagebutton (https://www.renpy.org/d...

Re: Multiple image transitions

I'll try to be as brief as possible. You want three things to happen simultaneously. You can't do that with transitions that interrupt game flow while executing. You can do that using ATL transforms and the parallel ATL statement. ATL documentation is here: https://www.renpy.org/doc/html/atl.html Se...

But how do I get the bounce to stop? It keeps looping
Sorry for the late answer (you now, I'm Brazilian, and it's Carnival time... ). You don't need to mess with the transform at all. Just show that sprite again (without the "at bounce" statements) and it will stop jumping.

Re: How to make character sprite bounce?

A good time to learn some Animation and Transformation (https://www.renpy.org/doc/html/atl.html#animation-and-transformation-language) ATL may seem complicated at first but, as you learn it, it becomes great fun. First, you define a transform: transform bounce: pause .15 yoffset 0 easein .175 yoffse...

Re: Playing Snow animation on Title Screen?

Okay, now that solarProtag kindly answered your second question, let's revisit the first one. I've already answered that question but I can understand your confusion. That said, the snow routine is python code. There's no "right" place to put it, but the best option is to create a separate rpy file ...

Re: Playing Snow animation on Title Screen?

Maybe are you trying to use the show statement? The example script for the snow effect is something like this: init: image snow = Snow("snowflake.png") label start: show snow "Hey, look! It's snowing." That's an old script, but it works. To show the snow on a screen like the main menu you can't use ...

Re: How can I make button to open HTML file?

That's interesting. For years, during the good old themed GUI days, that was exactly how the Help button worked. Its action was textbutton _("Help") action Help() and it opened an HTML help file named "README.html" that was automatically generated in the base directory (outside the game directory) w...

You can find the NaNoRenO page here: Board index/Player's Pavillion/Works in Progress/WiP: NaNoRenO or simply use this link: https://lemmasoft.renai.us/forums/viewforum.php?f=50 When March comes and the jam starts, that thread is usually moved to a more visible place and people start announcing thei...

Re: Click Anywhere to Continue

You can try simply adding a pause statement to your splash screen.

Code: Select all

label splashscreen:
    scene black
    show logo:
        truecenter
    with Dissolve(1.0)
show text "Press any key to continue" at center
    with dissolve
    pause
    hide text
    with dissolve
    return
