Re: Culina: The Spirit of Cooking [BxG][Modern Day]
I've played it once so far and I got the ending where you break up with Emily. The artwork is nice and there's some good use of zooming in and out. The time-jumps gave me whiplash sometimes. I thought you'd get to go through the process of restaurant planning, but then all of a sudden you finished t...

Re: The Spirit Of Disaster (Competition 2012)
yeah, winning would be awesome, but completing VN for this competition is already an achievement, and it felt great. one thing that disheartened me was, when I read reviews about my entry (not my entry, but my entry ) was that the grammar was terrible, and I was like... what?? yeah, I'm not a nativ...

Re: What factors are important to commercial games?
First off, I want a long, complex story with lots of branching and endings. I want an idea that appeals to me and some well-developed characters. And music, lots of music. Perks like voices or original songs help, but they're not necessary. Also, some sort of "special" gimmick such Heileen...

Re: Looking for an artist for future freeware project.
Ah yes, that IS a good suggestion. I'm new at this whole thing, so I'm not really sure how the thing's usually done. Anyway, I will definitely work on finishing the script once NaNo's out of the way.

Looking for an artist for future freeware project.
All right, heads up first of all, I can NOT pay anyone at the time. I am currently REALLY struggling with money, so I can't afford to pay an artist. The project will be freeware, so I won't make any money from it either. Anyway, for a long time now I've been wanting to make a VN based on The Little ...

Re: The Spirit Of Disaster (Competition 2012)
Congrats to the winners! Anyway, I wrote Ariana, which was my first time making a complete game in Ren'Py (I've fiddled with it a lot before, though). Yeah, I agree with what everyone said that the romance in it was rushed, but I had such a blast making it. It felt really good to actually COMPLETE a...

Re: The Spirit Of Disaster (Competition 2012)
Okay, I FINALLY played all the entries. Some were good, most were mediocre, a few were bad, but they were all interesting in one way or another. It was fun seeing how different people used the prompt. I hope there's another contest like this sometime (though preferably with more than one characters ...

Re: The Spirit Of Disaster (Competition 2012)
Okay, these are the last two I'm going to review, but I WILL play all of them before voting. "Meaning" Eh, this one didn't grab me, (I'll leave the "no menus" thing alone since I've said that so many times) mainly because it's too short. Okay, the protagonist Melissa has the &quo...

Re: The Spirit Of Disaster (Competition 2012)
"Sacrifice" Again, no menus. It would have really been nice to have some control over Matthew's fate in a story like this one. Also, it seemed like half the game was on a black screen, which got boring after a while. It was an interesting idea - either sacrifice yourself or let the disast...

Re: The Spirit Of Disaster (Competition 2012)
"Dusted Star" All the flashes made me dizzy. Flashes can be effective, but they were REALLY overused in this story - it was like every few lines there was a flash. It went beyond dramatic and just became annoying. The other effects were overdone as well. It really started to feel like the...

Re: The Spirit Of Disaster (Competition 2012)
"Balancing Act" I have to say this is one of my favorites so far. I enjoyed the different endings and how the spirit grants wishes by causing disasters to lean in Garrett's favor, espcially how the company had to fire everyone else in order to pay Garrett and how the radioplay had to stra...

Re: The Spirit Of Disaster (Competition 2012)
"Living Through Disaster" No menus, which is an automatic negative point for me. I like my VNs interactive. The spirit's characterization as half-crazy is entertaining, though there didn't seem to be much to her other than being half-crazy. I mean, she didn't even have a name. The other v...
