Re: Prices for Composers?
Which one will be cheaper (in sum/total that we must pay to the composer)? Lots of short tracks (30s-1m) or few of long tracks (2m-3m)? It depends on how the composer does his rates. If he charges by minuet of music -- which is what I do -- then it wouldn't matter. If he charges for set-up for each...

Re: Prices for Composers?
Prices depends totally on the composer. Some composers are asking per-minute prices, per-track prices, or per-number of instruments in the track prices ^^' Per-minute and per-track prices tend to work out to about the same since they are based on the same scale. A general rule of thumb that my comp...

Re: Prices for Composers?
The best way to work out a pay-scale with a composer is per minute of music, rather than in hours of their time. That's the "industry standard" for TV/Film/Game music composers. I'm pretty whimsical about how much I ask for based on how much budget is there is, how much I want to work for ...

Re: What and when to tell your musician
Thought I would chime in. Personally, I like to work from visuals. Reference tracks get stuck in my head and actually slow me down -- so unless you've got something that you are just really excited about be careful about using them. On the other hand, if you can name a TV/Film/Game that has a style ...

I love the impressionistic style of the backgrounds. I can't wait to finish downloading and play.

Re: Programs needed to make a game.
1. It allows you to see all voices at a glance, which many DAWs can't do, or can't do very well. (The only free one that does, AFAIK, is SynthFont--and that's not really free, since a lot of its features are locked off unless you pay.) ^THIS Most DAW's notation features are near-useless, and it tak...

Re: Programs needed to make a game.
I don't do much of anything outside of music, but for music I use Sibelius and Cubase (with LoopBe, they can talk to each other). From there I've got a whole mess of VSTi plug-ins and effects that I use. That being said, FL Studio is a good starting point; and it should be fine unless you really wan...

Re: Bad naming skills..... *cries*
The ancient Romans would frequently just name their kids with ordinals in the order they were born; then when the child had attained something, they might end up with a "real" name. So your name would be your father's name plus the number of son or daughter you were. Primus (first) Qintus ...

Re: Jobs
I'm finishing up my undergrad and getting ready for grad school... beyond that I work as a music director; and I freelance as a composer, orchestrator, arranger, and copyist (layout and design of printed music).
Re: Guestbook
Hello all, I'm Jeff (sorry, no creative nickname here...) from Texas. I've played a few Ren'Py games (read Ren'Py novels?), and VN is something that is somewhat new to me. I play a lot of RPGs and IF -- and I read more than most English Lit. majors I know. I love anything with a compelling story. I'...
