Re: Creating a Topic for your Game
Hi, if I can ask one question...I had a thread for a game I was working on a while ago, but I basically ended up scratching a good part of it, and now I have a lot more content to show for it. Would it be okay to start a new thread for it for neatness' sake? (I haven't posted on the old thread since...

Re: Logic Blade[Murder Mystery]
Everything is going great, if a bit slowly for my tastes. No boring difficulties that came up, just haven't had as much time to work on the game as I'd like. Still, we are going at a decent pace right now. Chapter 1(out of 5) is done with the "blocking." In other words all text for the fir...

Re: Logic Blade[Murder Mystery]
As a small update, game has been coming along nicely. It's taking a bit more of my time than I wish it did, but I haven't hit any roadblocks lately. It's kind of eerie, actually. I keep expecting to run into some major unforeseen issue and, nope, everything is going along just fine. I took a week ou...

Re: Logic Blade[Murder Mystery]
Yeah looks very hack-ish. Not that there's anything unusual with that for in-process development. Again, thanks for taking the time to explain it out. I think it's very exciting that you're pushing the boundaries and coming up with new inventive ways to make visual novels. Props to you for t...

Re: Logic Blade[Murder Mystery]
Splendid. Thanks for taking the time to write such a detailed account of your development. You know someone is proud of what they've done when they really take the time to explain everything =P How did you go about organizing the actual content/flow of the game, like scripting each individual scene...

Re: Logic Blade[Murder Mystery]
Thanks for the encouragement guys, it makes me really happy to see you guys like murder mysteries! I've been working on some assets and I might be able to get a few videos/screenshots soon. I'm still really not happy with how the UI is turning out, so I may have to hire someone to do that part later...

Logic Blade[Mystery][Unity3D]
http://www.logicbladegame.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/Logo.png Premise: Eight people find themselves inside a mysterious underwater castle, joined by a ninth person who seems to have come out of his own free will. Those people know nothing of why they were chosen, only that they all share the sa...

Re: 2D Vs 3D characters
3D animation is getting better and better. To make something like roosterteeth, it's...not impossible, even on free software, but it takes some time and I honestly just don't think it's worth it. I might end up doing 3D characters eventually, just not now. Not worth the time and effort for a dubious...

Re: Get that thing off your chest... Now...
One thing that really upsets me: Shaders. I'll elaborate--I'm using Unity for some stuff so that I have 3D(but sorta 2D looking) backgrounds and 2D characters. That's working great so far. The only issue? Well, that would be the lighting. I really liked the idea of 3D lighting affecting 2D sprites b...

Re: Get that thing off your chest... Now...
There's not much worse than going Work->Sports Contest->University Exam with around 10 minutes in between each of them. Luckily I didn't have to write an essay, 'else my arm would have fallen off. Man those last few weeks were crazy. I think I said I'd make a "basic 3D videos for visual novels&...

Dear artist at work who I shall never know the name of thanks to the dumb streamlined process we have to deal with:
I love you for sending the original psd files for the reference image and for naming the layers after the material you used. There's a special place in heaven for people like you.

@Faze: Any chance you'd be willing to share some code snippets or references you used for 3D in Ren'Py? I'm sure there would be a lot of people who would be interested, even if it was very limited. Oh yeah sure, absolutely. It's only pseudo 3D, mind you, since it was just raycasting, but I can defi...

Re: Get that thing off your chest... Now...
That's beautiful functionality. Which engine are you using, or is it for a video within the game? Thanks! I'm using Unity right now, though the project started on renpy. I mapped the 3D using Blender, then just had Unity render it. I had the camera on a fixed path for the sake of recording it, but ...

Re: Get that thing off your chest... Now...
Phew, just finished setting up the geometry for the 3D in one background. Still need to re-texture it, but I think it's looking pretty nice(the camera mapping): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t6zeLKeoGd8&feature=youtu.be Took me about...fifteen minutes to turn a 2d image into that. Next comes a ...
