Re: Showing Money in game

The default thing just means the value gets set before the game runs. If you were working on the game and had a save game, if you then added some new variable under the start label that you check against later, you'd get errors if you loaded the save. It wouldn't exist in your save game. But if you ...

Re: Never∞Ending (Mystery otome\yuri)

The artwork for this game looks very nice. ^_^ Abigail looks like a cool protagonist, I imagine there's an interesting story behind her taste for danger.

Re: Showing Money in game

Here's some simple code for you: Put this in your screens.rpy (although you can put it almost anywhere) #you can rename money_display to something else like wallet or whatever your want, just make sure it matches your "show" later screen money_display: frame: xalign .5 #change this value b...

Re: Seems like more VN devs aren't hiring editors/proofreaders nowadays

Well if any Russian (or otherwise) companies want me to check if their proofreader/editor is worth their salt, I'm happy to help. :)

Re: What tools do you use to manage your project?

I like favro, it's a bit like trello/hector only more scrummy? Got a backlog that kind of thing and the burndown charts can be useful. Not sure about their latest change in price structure though... used to be I could use it as a single user but not sure if that's the case any more. :? https://media...

Re: Budget for Games

For me, I'd be looking at that kind of budget ($2000-$3000) if I did the writing, programming, and character art myself and just had to pay for UI art, backgrounds, music, promo video. I would probably get free sound effects and not pay for voice acting as it's notoriously expensive to get good qual...

Re: My art journey~

Ooo, I have to say the bonsai in post #54 looks really really good! I prefer it over the subsequent one because the detail on the bonsai itself is less washed out from the lighting. I think I prefer the colours in #56 though. Nice one with the cloud doodles. Did you use a custom brush for that? I do...

Re: Feedback for handsome butler

@morinoir Oops, you are right morinoir! The chain is gone for some reason! :) You know, I had a feeling all throughout that his legs looked too long, but whenever I ran a proportional comparison against other otome game art, mine actually came out shorter than most of my reference?! How weird is tha...

Re: Unconventional Commercial VNs? (... like mine)

(are you secretly an OotG member?) Technically speaking, I secretly am, but not sure I fully count being one of the devs. And I think I personally improved a lot as an artist working on this project. It's funny, because that's kind of the feeling I got. Like some of the artwork was drawn by ...

Re: Unconventional Commercial VNs? (... like mine)

For what it's worth, I can tell you that the people who backed and bought BS5 had very little overlap with VNs as an interest, they were more likely to be interested in RPGs (their second choice by far) and puzzle games (a distant third). I think if you take the time to understand whom this game app...

Re: How to disable skipping the "with dissolve" transitions?

Mmmm have you tried $ renpy.transition(dissolve)? I know it's a way to force a dissolve transition on a custom screen call, maybe it will also work here?

Re: sprite making critique

I would probably commission you at the lower or medium end of the scale. For me, maybe the nose could do with a bit more work, at the moment it's not quite consistent with the overall lighting. I agree with what Limabaen said, I prefer a .psd file with a variety of eyebrows, eyes, and mouths on sepa...

Re: Sasquatchii's Art Thread (Critiques & Constructive Criticism Requested) [NSFW]

Oh sas, I have been there so many times over the years. I think what especially gets me down is when I don't see any progress. I want to be at point C but I'm at point B and even thought that's further along than point A, I am not happy enough from that. I just can't seem to move from B to C, and fe...

Re: Share your sales/downloads stats!

I am not sure why Steam don't want developers to share their stats. I think you can contact them and request permission to share the stats. It might be a hang over from the olden publisher days, or maybe from the days when they weren't the primary digital games store and they didn't want sales compa...
