Re: Artist looking for work

Really cool art. However, your job post makes me feel like you aren't actually looking for a job, since there are no details about average rates or exactly how large a project you are willing to take on. If I was looking for a trustworthy artist, I would really need more information about your avai...

Thank you! If you ever need any sort of quick conception or sketching, I'm available for that as well.

Artist looking for work

Tumblr: http://eahartlein.tumblr.com/ Hello, I'm here to offer my services. Rates are very flexible. I can do pretty much anything from full illustrations to sprites or other tasks like inking or coloring. I am looking for paid work, and can work with your budget whatever it is. Right now I'm lookin...

Re: Looking to Form a Team! [Chiaroscuro][Paid]

Yes, you are asking for a lot for that amount of compensation. If you are really serious about this project, I would suggest using that money to hire someone to do concept sketches of the story, so that in the future, you have visuals to pitch to prospective artists/writers. As an artist, I'd be wil...

Re: How to do fan service?

If the characters are attractive enough, anything they do is fanservice as far as I'm concerned. I think with women, the type of guy (e.g. tall dark and mysterious) is more fanservice than anything they actually wear.

Re: Cliche vs. Original, Game vs. Novel, and Marketing OELVN

The way I see it, visual novels are a great method to get a story out there, perhaps even for potential OVA adaptation, without jumping through the hoops of submitting to publishers or studios. Unlike traditional books, you can more specifically show the images and setting you want, when you want. ...

Re: Can there be too much plot? How to deal with it?

I'm pretty much in the exact same situation. There are a lot of pieces to the puzzle that I'm trying to fit together coherently, with different point of view, history, world building, and the like. The thing is that I am not a fan of exposition, or facing a ton of unusual facts at the beginning. It'...

Re: Cliche vs. Original, Game vs. Novel, and Marketing OELVN

You know, I disagree that the anime aesthetic is being marketing wrong on Steam. There just aren't many GOOD anime games on Steam. So the market IS there. But if you notice from my examples, they don't like the current kind of "thin authentic" Japanese VN. That's what I'm getting at, thou...

Re: Cliche vs. Original, Game vs. Novel, and Marketing OELVN

Honestly the way I see it, the presentation is primary when it comes to games with anime art, at least outside of Japan. It's not just a feature. When I discovered VNs, it wasn't because I was looking for interactive fiction, I was attracted to the character designs first and second and the story. I...

Re: Phantom of the Opera Visual Novel~

Truthfully I'm not working on it. Much as that disappoints me it sucks since I was so psyched to do it. Seems not that productive to write since a gaming company made a version of their own this year. Though it is cluttered with poorly ill-logical sex scenes D: No no no! Don't be like that! Phantom...

Re: Cliche vs. Original, Game vs. Novel, and Marketing OELVN

Thanks for replying everyone, and helping me sort out my thoughts. I'm sure that before I was projecting my own confusions about what I wish to accomplish on the rest of the community, though some may identify. It can also be helpful to realize a much wider audience may exist for your VN formula wit...

Re: Cliche vs. Original, Game vs. Novel, and Marketing OELVN

There is a tendency to place a VN featuring attractive bishounen into the same category as a puzzle solving VN, even though they are entirely different products. Some VNs have both, you know :) This is true, and 'puzzle solving' might be vague of an example. My point is that the puzzle solving most...

Cliche vs. Original, Game vs. Novel, and Marketing OELVN

So I've spent a lot of time browsing through the forum, considering ideas and pitfalls I may run into as I am embarking on my first VN project. I find the future of VNs an intriguing subject, and I'd like to share some observations that I need to get off my chest. First, the desire for VN to reach a...
