Re: How good Python is?

Mono is for .NET. All .NET languages, from C# to Managed C++ to VB.NET to COBOL.NET to IronPython all generate the same bytecode (MSIL) which is JIT compiled to run on the user's machine as native code. The MS runtime is responsible for that compilation step and providing the runtime libraries; the...

Re: How good Phyton is?

Fun stuff. I'd say C# is viable, since it IS cross-platform. You just need to use Mono instead of .Net. I didn't know that. I knew there was something about Mono and Visual Basic.NET. Didnt know it was for C# too. We all got our opinions tho. I had a hard time with C# for some reason though. Trust ...

Re: How good Phyton is?

Except C#, which I've never used, for some reason. No fault of C#'s, it's just that I haven't done much with the CLR. Trust me: you don't want to use C#. It's built on MS's crappy .Net framework, it's slow, it's buggy and it's not really cross platform. So even if it's an old language (what C, C++,...

Re: How good is Phyton?

Ive gone through many programming languages trying to find a good one to study. Python was one of them. Actually, Python was one of my favorites (until I discovered Java, but thats another story). As with any programming languages, Python's capabilities are endless. Many libraries have been programm...

Re: Otaku wants to legally marry a manga character

hopefully this is a prank, but for a prank, gathering over 1000 signatures on a petition is kinda pushing it if you ask me.

Re: Otaku wants to legally marry a manga character

If he's serious, I think he really needs to see at least a therapist... What caused his repulsion of real people? Or maybe this is just a coping mechanism... I personally think the latter is more likely it. And if that's the case, I sincerely hope it's a short-term thing. But really, in any case, h...

Re: The Chase

You need to provide us with a good plot explanation, give us your development plans, explain how much you have done already, and what kind of support you need, be it artists, musicians, coders, etc. You need to provide enough info to show your exact plans so that people understand them perfectly.

Re: GRRRRRRR....dang virus!

basically an internet sandbox keeps your browser and files it creates from having direct access to your computer. that way nothing can attack and get in. I dont know much as Ive just started using one, but people I know really recommend it saying it is very effective. As for the video plugin, accord...

Re: Terminology Thread

I think Interactive Novel sounds good. Gamebook IMO doesnt sound too appealing. To me it sounds like some kind of 1980's computer or console. But thats just me.

Re: GRRRRRRR....dang virus!

Viruses are a pain. some can be fixed, others are fatal. Ive dealt with both. I can give a few steps to keeping as safe as possible: Use an internet sandbox - It places your browser, files related to it, and files created by it in a virtual isolation called a sandbox. This more or less prevents file...

Re: The Curse of The-So-Called PATENT

patents are basically legal weapons. You have an idea, make it, then patent it. Someone takes it, sue the living hell outta them. My dad works for HP. Therefore he works with Microsoft. For a long time he had given them the idea and code to implement some special sleep feature in Windows. Im talkin ...
