Re: To all the "Girl Gamers!"

or a Marine that finds a portal to Hell Hey! That was a great game! Especially Doom 3. Luckily for the civilians nobody got dragged off to hell by demons because I capped them all right between the eyes before the demons could get to them  Anyway, from what I've read in this thread is that it'...

Re: FL's Writing Practice

I'll take the first quote : Midnight eventually came. Restless and deprived of sleep, I felt as if my eyes couldn’t stay open. I quietly sneak out of the house and glanced above where the snow fell from. The clouds were barely visible, making the snowflakes appear from nowhere. I head out to the pon...

Re: Narration or Dialogue?

Well, the VN I'm working on is completely dialogue. All of the emotions and actions are in the graphics. But be warned : the storyboards are huge. One page of writing can take as many as 8 to 10 screens and a lot of it is not re-usable. So, yes, you can skip all descriptions but only at the cost of ...

Re: Dialogue Choices/Branching

What is your opinion on dialogues that have choices/options in them? (By this, I mean repeatedly, as in the game will have this be a thing that happens regularly) Well, choices in dialogue... I think it could only be used in a significant way if it "informs" the game about what kind of ch...

Re: Popularity of: Mix between strategy simulation and RPG

Sounds like a good idea. I would skip part 1 though, it seems unnecessary to me. Cut to the chase. Nobody wants to read walls of text if they just want to command armies  The attraction of the game is like being a ruler in older times when the ruler didn't have an overview of the battlefield (u...

Re: To all the "Girl Gamers!"

Well, I'm not a girl gamer but I think it's not a matter of game mechanics but of visuals. Let's say we have a game and you can select whether you're male or female. The game plays exactly the same for both genders , it just changes graphics, music and backstory. There's no difference at all in skil...

Re: Wakagana Art Watch. (I'm bad, but getting a little bette

There's been times where I've just been completely stuck on a drawing, just to come back a week later and see what was wrong with the drawing. One thing that works great for me is to look at the drawing in mirror image. Easily done on the computer, of course. For paper drawings just look at them th...

Re: An event about a Japanese pro artist who copied another?

Well, there's a difference between using references and flat out tracing, of course. But I think too much is made of it. Let's take music. Would we call Benny Goodman a hack because he didn't write "Sweet Georgia Brown"? I guess that most of what big concert orchestras play wasn't composed...

Always loved Nuku Nuku (the OVA, not the TV or Dash version which are only so-so). The characters are all great, insane stories, etc.

Re: Starwulfen's Art Thread (critique very much appreciated)

I know I have a lot to improve on, and I would really appreciate critique/comments/tips on how I can get better Concentrate on getting one thing right at a time. I believe postures to be the best thing to start with (you can get away with murder if you can draw good postures). You've drawn a symmet...

but there's something else I can't quite put my finger on. Well, there are a couple of issues with anatomy and a bit with the folds but the main thing is this : put your hand in the pocket of your sweater and look what your arm is doing. The elbow isn't swung outwards like you've drawn it. It's sli...

Re: VanillaPenguin's Art thread, (opinions needed!)

Another question if you don't mind, does the lineart look a bit thick to you? I've seen other artwork, and I feel that it's not crisp or thin enough (T3T due to scanning it in) Could the pens I'm using be interfering with quality? The lines aren't that thick. It just looks in places like it is. Take...

Re: The Last 10% is Polish

Hehe, the picture at the top has the silhouette of leaves in the trees whereas the one at the bottom only has the suggestion of trees and a big flare covering everything. I can see why it's so popular with artists  Anyway, I believe it to be just a fad. It will find its proper place in time. I ...

Re: VanillaPenguin's Art thread, (opinions needed!)

I wanted to know if I should continue to do lineart by hand or if I should switch to doing the lineart on the computer (which I've done before). Keep doing it by hand. Why? Well, you're in the production process now and you're used to doing it by hand. Switching to doing it on the computer will tak...
