Re: No narration?

Look at it from the other way around: one of the ways that text-only novels make up for not having images or sound is by using narration to describe things. There's really only one book series that comes to mind as primarily dialogue-driven, and that's Armistead Maupin's Tales of the City. What it h...

Re: Is ok to isolate traits to specific characters?

Like with all writing matters, it depends. If the reader isn't going to spend a lot of time with the characters, limiting them to certain identifiable trait helps the reader know who is who. However if the reader is going to read hundreds of pages about the characters, then the characters need to be...

Re: The Dark [Kinetic][Very Very Short][Philosophy?]

Finished playing The Dark just now. I'm always amazed at microfiction and what it can convey. Two people in a caring relationship. They could get panicked over the blackout, but instead they comfort each other, tell some jokes, and look forward to the future. It was a quite nice and pleasant experie...

Re: Making a Child POV Character Feel Like a Child

There are lots of psychological books/essays about developmental hallmarks in children and how they think at certain ages, but probably the quickest way to research would be to go to Youtube and look up "conversations with a six year old" and see what you can get from those results.

Re: Need Feedback for Latest Version of Our Game's Script (10 Pages)

What does the title mean? What is "Iragon"? Is it the setting of the story? A character? Some important artifact? And what portion of the full game does the demo represent? The concern over stilted dialog and refinement are matters of nuance that I'm not sure the script is ready for, becau...

Re: Plot Ideas

Not knowing anything about your process, I'd suggest going with whichever is the most recent one you came up with. Or the one that you know the ending to. However, if you've already done some pre-writing (like drafting plots, coming up with characters, world-building, etc), then I'd go with whicheve...

Re: Writing For A Mood

I'm not so much for eating to evoke a mood, but making sure I have tea or ice water at the ready is one of the things I do to physically set up my writing space. I guess I've got a few playlists that I've been using heavily lately. One has some classical music, some Twin Peaks tracks, and some Alan ...

Re: Writing process

It seems to me that writing your visual novel's text as close as possible to how it will appear in the VN is the way to go. Why would you even bother doing it the alternate way?

Re: ❤ Cute Demon Crashers! ❤ [GxB/GxG][18+][NaNoRenO 2015]

This is a really finely-made game. The characters are charming, the art and interface are beautiful, really good voice-acting. And now I get to choose Kael or Orias! Thank you so much for making this. :D

Re: Vividly Strange

This was an interesting experience. I feel like most of your effort in staging/action went towards Adamo's introduction and his rummaging through the kitchen drawer, and you probably could have done a bit more when the narrator gets pushed into the basement. I'll hold off on giving specific ideas in...

Re: What is the last movie you watched?

I watched the first Mad Max movie the other day, working my way through the others before I go see Fury Road. Except for the dubbing, it's pretty watchable. My friends think it looks too old so they're going to pass on the others, probably.
