Making scenes random with ending still intact
Okay, I hope I can describe this clear enough. The story I'm planning takes place while the player is dreaming and I wanted to emulate the randomness of dreams (that is, each time it is played, the scenes you see are random). I plan to make 10-15 small scenes that will have choices on each of them. ...

Re: Writing vs. Drawing
Both :/ Well.. I find writing "easier" (airquotes) in the sense that I can slap on words and form ideas on the fly. Drawing is much more difficult because it's a matter of skill. I'm not "that" skilled with coloring and backgrounds so I find doing it really slow and tedious. And ...

Re: The Loop [thriller/puzzle]
Thank you for this cool game, sir! I'm proud enough to say I beat "Crazy" mode without cheating (yes, I know it's the easy mode.. so what? That was friggin hard, okay? I kept breaking down the choices to whether the donut or the chips would affect the story. I even researched pizza marghar...

Re: Paths. WTF.
Good question.. This is something I've been asking myself as well. I come from a more traditional (linear) kind of story-telling and I have little experience in writing for VNs. I'm not even sure if you can take my advice to heart! Nevertheless, here are some things I've picked up on: 1. If you're j...

Re: How do you choose name for main character?
Although I will say that blowing afternoons on those sites has its place. For me it can be a source of inspiration. You know, when I'm tired of writing anyway. Honest. Inspiration -- that's my story and I'm sticking to it!! ...I-I'm denying it all the way through. *shifts uncomfortably* Dargh. Yes....

Re: How do you choose name for main character?
If your character name is stopping you from developing your story ( "NO! I absolutely must name this character and it has to be SYMBOLIC! It must be IMPORTANT!") Then you might be doing something wrong. Although a character having a meaningful name can be quite an easter egg for your reade...

Re: Yo people with glasses say "aye"!
Wow. Those grades are quite high. Mine's only 100(right) and 125(left). Ah how time pass! Those were my first grades (R-100 L-100) when I first wore glasses, but they just got higher every year. High school came and the grades slowed down a bit, fortunately. Though, I have no way to tell my exact g...

Re: Yo people with glasses say "aye"!
Aye! I got glasses pretty early in life, like most of the recent posters. Around six or seven. I could never finish the work my teacher would write out in class. This resulted to a lot of scoldings (and a raw bum). They all thought I was kind of slow or lazy because of this. Turns out, I just couldn...

Re: Crawling into the mind of the opposite gender
You really don't have to stress too much about it. I will agree with one of the recent posters that there isn't a whole lot of difference between how men and women think (dodges tomatoes). Okay.. okay, I might be pushing it a bit, but hear me out! I think most of the differences come from societal e...

Re: WebStory Engine - A Visual Novel Engine for the Web
Yeah, I got the download to work now, thanks! Although I'm having a hard time getting the program to start to be honest. I went by the WSE forum to check on the steps and the troubleshooting.. But getting Python to start on itself is proving to be quite a challenge haha! Thanks for answering my ques...

Re: Writing for KN vs VN. Which do you prefer?
There's a lot of ways to tell a story with one ending. Prose, comics, plays, film, and more are all viable options. Kinetic novels are much younger than any of these formats, as they didn't exist until at least the 1990s. Good insight. Thanks for pointing that out. As a disadvantage, I guess people...

Re: 751words
Welp, a rewards system would be cool. It amuses me to find penguins and turkeys on my dashboard back then haha. But that's optional, of course! One thing I'd like to ask is the saving. Once you're done with a date, is it archived into the program itself or is it saved as separate files? I'm sure the...

Re: Some thoughts on being "good enough" and the magnus opus
Still not easy. But easier. :) Very true. And the process is quite inspiring because you can see results of your hard work faster. Nice website by the way! Errant Heart sounds like a winner! I've really come to appreciate the ADV-style conversation cutscenes that is typical in JRPGs and that presen...

Re: WebStory Engine - A Visual Novel Engine for the Web
I'm glad for this engine. Although.. I can't seem to download it through the site :( I wonder what's wrong? Also, sorry for the noob question, but are people required to download files if they want to read the VN? Being a browser-based game, I thought it would eliminate the need to download stuff an...
