Re: i don't feel safe anymore with gaming culture

On the individual side: Absolutely no one should be harassed. Doesn’t matter what gender. Here is the issue I take with the whole situation- Several male game critics and developers in the past have openly complained about online harassment, those who have also been in fear for their own safety, onl...

Re: What do people misunderstands about you?

People don't seem to understand that I am happy being single. There seems to be a mentality in society that if you aren't attached to the hip with someone as you grow older, there must be something wrong with you. If you're a guy, you're considered a loser. If you're a girl, you're considered a prud...

Re: Range of emotions?

I am also interested in hearing what people say. I'm a webcomic artist working on my first VN now, and currently my MC sprite has 22 different expressions. Yes, it's overkill, but I feel as the main character, she should have a wider variety of emotions than the standard "six emotions" blo...

Re: Proofreading demos?

I would probably proofread myself and then get at least two other people to proofread after me. I can't tell you how many times someone will catch something you didn't when you self-proofread!

Yeah, I can agree with that.

I just wish there were more websites that catered to reviews for OELVNs. It seems to be a bit more organized, I guess?

Re: On detailing surroundings

I think for environments, the image (background) should speak for itself. I don't think describing it enhances the story in any way and may be redundant.. Unless you are particularly pointing out something important in the environment that needs to be highlighted such as a device, puzzle or plot rea...

Re: Reviews for VNs

I was actually thinking about this the other day. I googled "OELVN reviews" and found very few sites that offered them (most of the sites were inactive). If people linked their blogs here so we could have an official list, that would be super helpful! I really like reading reviews. Maybe t...

Re: Are you proud of your art?

I'm fine with my art, but like everything else, there is room for improvement! However, I never get discouraged when I see amazing artwork. I think "Wow! One day I want my art to be as good as that!" And if you go back to look at that artist's old art, you see that they once were at the sa...

Re: Open hostility against JRPG or indie VN gamedevs

Uhhh...what exactly did you do the earn those kind of threats? I haven't heard of such hostility toward JRPGS or VNs...people usually don't waste their time. Aside from the occasional snark from someone's review/critique, most of the time it is just ignored.

Re: Photos, CG or hand-drawn. Oh which BG should I pick

I think hand-drawn backgrounds are the best, but I understand they can be both time consuming and difficult to perfect. My next preference would be one produced in Sketch-Up as well as post-processing. I'm not a fan of photograph + filters...or at least I have yet to see one done in an elegant fashi...

Re: Character digital shading

Let's see...I'm not an expert, but I can help! 1) Light source: Super important. Here's a tutorial I found that touches on the basics. For example, I noticed that you have a light source that seems to be coming from the upper left, but the light of the girls eyes are coming from the right. Little th...
